Woolly Loveliness

I just wanted to share with you all - a little glimpse of woolly loveliness.

Crafty Wools

I live near the pretty town of Wimborne Minster in Dorset - and this is my local yarn store.
A stall in the local market hall.

There is a always a lovely selection of yarn, tempting me to buy ..... :)

It may not be the biggest store in the land - but what it lacks in size -  is more than made up for by the lovely friendly service given by the proprietor.

I like nothing better on a Sunday morning than to have a wander through the market. And no one could make me feel more welcome at their stall than Jo.
We usually have a little chat about our current projects, and whatever is topical in the knitting word at the time.

I only buy a few balls of yarn every few weeks - and sadly that will not keep her business going.
There is so much competition these days from the poundshops, supermarkets, B & M,  hobbycraft etc - and of course I do buy from them all from time to time.
But I try to buy from Crafty Wools when I can - I want this stall to survive and thrive.
I like having the personal connection with another crafter who loves and cares about what she does, and talks my language!

Over the past few months I have really been enjoying using King Cole Baby DK With A Twist.
Jo stocks always several colourways - and has even gone to the trouble of sourcing more for me.
It is so soft to knit with, and gives a lovely result for baby items.

A couple of weeks ago I bought two of balls of this ~
and I am really looking forward to using it.

I would like to say a huge thank you to Crafty Yarn's Jo Donnachie.

Actually she is one of the very few members of my facebook group that I have actually met!
Though there are now over 5,000 members ~ I only actually know 5 of them!!

And I would like to urge each of you to support your local yarn shop if you value it too.

  1. What a lovely shop really miss being able to actually handle the yarns before purchasing, In my area we do not have anything like it so I have to buy on line from the UK. Love the baby items, pretty colours too xcx

  2. Looks good enough to eat, I use my local wool shop since I found it. The prices are very good and the owner sets some good bargains and passes the savings along. I am lucky that the place is big enough for a Knit and Natter once a week.

  3. You are very lucky. Yarn stores are very scarce in my area and those that open up soon seem to fail. I don't know why. Maybe I should buy more!

  4. It's such a shame that there aren't many yarn shops around anymore, I'm lucky to have a Kemps store about 7 miles away from me even better now as I have my bus pass and the bus stop is just outside the door. :) x
