All-in-One Baby Cardigan with Button Front

Some of the charities in the UK for are asking for baby cardigans with long sleeves and a fully buttoned front.

So I thought it might be helpful if I added instructions for this variation of my previous pattern.

Here are the three preemie sizes ..... and I will add bigger sizes soon, once I have checked them out ! 


All-in-One Baby Cardigan with Button Front  ~ Large Preemie


All- In-One Baby Cardigan with Buttoned Front & Ribbed Borders ~  Small Premature  

Requires ~
DK yarn (or any yarn that knits to 22sts = 4”/10cm) - requires  around 26g - 30g
4mm needles
4 small buttons

Measurements
Width 11",   Length  5½" - 6",  Sleeve Length 3½"

Worked from the neck downwards

Cast on 37sts

Row 1           S1, * k1, p1, rep from * to last 2sts, k2

Row 3            S1, k1, yfwd, k2tog (makes a buttonhole), * p1, k1, rep from * to last st, k1
Row 4            S1, * p1, k1, rep from * to end

Row 23          K18, slip next 21sts onto a stitch holder, k31, slip next 21sts onto a stitch holder, k18

          K3, (k3, kfb) to last 8sts, k8

Row 26          K4, purl to last 4sts, k4                                                           81sts

Row 27          K2, yfwd, k2tog (makes a buttonhole), knit to end of row
Row 28          K4, purl to last 4sts, k4
Row 29          Knit
Row 30          K4, purl to last 4sts, k4
Repeat last 2 rows 3 times more

Row 37          S1, * k1, p1, rep from * to last 2sts, k2
Row 38          S1, * p1, k1, rep from * to end
Row 39          S1, k1, yfwd, k2tog (makes a buttonhole), * p1, k1, rep from * to last st, k1
Row 40          S1, * p1, k1, rep from * to end
Row 41          S1, * k1, p1, rep from * to last 2sts, k2

Cast off loosely in rib (if you find this difficult, use a larger needle)


Sleeves ~ Both Alike

Put 21sts, left on a stitch holder for a sleeve, back on to a knitting needle. Rejoin yarn.

Row 1           Kfb, knit to last st, kfb                            23sts
Row 2           S1, purl to last st, k1
Row 3           S1, knit to end
Row 4           S1, purl to last st, k1
Repeat last two rows until 3” (7.5cm) have been worked from armhole, ending after completing a wrong side (purl) row

Rib 5 rows
Cast off in rib

Make the second sleeve in the same way

Sew up sleeve and underarm seams
Darn away ends
Sew on buttons

Requires ~
DK yarn (or any yarn that knits to 22sts = 4”/10cm) - requires  around 30g - 35g
4mm needles
4 small buttons

Row 3           S1, knit to end
Row 4           S1, purl to last st, k1
Repeat last two rows until 3½” (9cm) have been worked from armhole, ending after completing a wrong side (purl) row
Rib 5 rows
Cast off in rib

Make the second sleeve in the same way
Sew up sleeve and underarm seams
Darn away ends
Sew on buttons

Row 2           S1, knit to end
Row 3           S1, purl to last st, k1
Repeat last two rows until 4½” (11.5cm) have been worked from armhole, ending after completing a wrong side (purl) row
Rib 5 rows
Cast off in rib


Make the second sleeve in the same way
Sew up sleeve and underarm seams
Darn away ends
Sew on buttons

Ziggy Baby Blanket

Here is my Easter Gift to you all ~ 

Ziggy Baby Blanket


Requires:
DK yarn and 4mm needles
The smallest size 15” uses around 60g of acrylic yarn - the biggest size 30” requires around 250g

Tension:  
21sts - 4" (10cm) over pattern as worked

Sizes:
You can change the size of your blanket by adding or reducing in multiples of 8 stitches (77 +/- multiples of 8)

Width ~
For a doll / small preemie baby blanket of 15”              Cast on 77sts
For a preemie baby blanket of 18”                               Cast on 93sts
For a newborn baby blanket of 24”                              Cast on 125sts
For a baby blanket of around 30”                                Cast on 157sts

Length ~ Make your blanket square, or a little longer than it’s width.


Ziggy Baby Blanket

For a Small Preemie Baby or doll ~

Width            15”
Length:         15” – easy to adjust

Cast on 77sts

Border ~
Knit 8 rows

Pattern ~
Row 1:          S1, knit to end
Row 2:          S1, k5, purl to last 6sts, k6
Row 3:          S1, k5, *p1, k7, repeat from * to last 7sts, p1, k6
Row 4:          S1, k4, * k1, p1, k1, p5, repeat from * to last 8sts, k1, p1, k6
Row 5:          S1, k7, * p1, k3, repeat from * to last 5sts, k5
Row 6:          S1, k5, p3, * k1, p1, k1, p5, repeat from * to last 12sts, k1, p1 k1, p3, k6
Row 7:          S1, k9, *p1, k7, repeat from * to last 3sts, k3
Row 8:          S1, k5, purl to last 6sts, k6
Repeat the last 8 rows eleven times more, or until you are happy with the length of your little blanket
Finish with a Border ~
Knit 9 rows
Cast off
