Tiny Crochet Hats

A charity group has asked me for a crochet pattern for very tiny baby hats, using UK terminology. These are for Angel Babies who are sadly born too soon.

The smallest measures just 2½“

I hope these tiny hats bring some comfort to families at such a heart-breaking time.

Angel Baby Hat 17 -19 weeks

Requirements:

DK yarn

4mm crochet hook

Size:

Width: 2½“ (5” all around)
Height: 2¼“

Pattern:

This pattern is written in UK terminology

tc = treble crochet dc = double crochet ch = chain

Worked in the round.

Chain 3 , join with a slip stitch into a ring

Round 1: ch2, make 9tc into ring, slip stitch to join. (10sts)

Round 2: ch2 then tc in same stitch as ch2, 2tc in each stitch all around, join with slip stitch. (20sts)

Round 3: Ch 2, 1tc in each stitch all around, join with slip stitch. (20sts)

Rounds 4-5: Repeat round 3

Round 6: Ch1, dc in each stitch all around, join with slip stitch.

Fasten off. Weave in ends

Micro-Preemie/ Angel Baby Hat 20 - 22 weeks

Requirements:

DK yarn

4mm crochet hook

Size:

Width: 2¾“ (5½” all around)
Height: 2½“

Pattern:

This pattern is written in UK terminology

tc = treble crochet dc = double crochet ch = chain

Worked in the round.

Chain 4 , join with a slip stitch into a ring

Round 1: ch2, make 11tc into ring, slip stitch to join. (12sts)

Round 2: ch2 then tc in same stitch as ch2, 2tc in each stitch all around, join with slip stitch. (24sts)

Round 3: Ch 2, 1tc in each stitch all around, join with slip stitch. (24sts)

Rounds 4-6: Repeat round 3

Round 7: Ch1, dc in each stitch all around, join with slip stitch.

Fasten off. Weave in ends

Extra Small Premature Baby Hat 23 – 25 weeks

Requirements:

DK yarn

4mm crochet hook

Size:

Width: 3¼“ (6½“ all around)
Height: 3“

Pattern:

This pattern is written in UK terminology

tc = treble crochet dc = double crochet ch = chain

Worked in the round.

Chain 4, join with a slip stitch into a ring

Round 1: ch2, make 12tc into ring, slip stitch to join. (13sts)

Round 2: ch2 then tc in same stitch as ch2, 2tc in each stitch all around, join with slip stitch. (26sts)

Round 3: Ch 2, 1tc in each stitch all around, join with slip stitch. (26sts)

Rounds 4-7: Repeat round 3

Round 8: Ch1, dc in each stitch all around, join with slip stitch.

Fasten off. Weave in ends

Twenty Million Page Views

Those of you who have been following me for a while may remember that I set up this Blog in January 2013 as a way to keep a record of all my makes.

I was working 4 days a week - Monday to Thursday - and every week I couldn't wait for Friday to come!
Friday was my ME time .....

I could do whatever I wanted with no commitments or interruptions.

I called my Fridays my 'Lazy Daisy Days.'

7 years later ~ I am still enjoying every minute of my crafting time!

Life has changed of course, and happily I have found a way to have more of those Lazy Daisy Days !

I have written and shared over 400 FREE patterns on this blog.

I try really hard to make sure my patterns are easy to follow - oh - and cute too.

It brings me great joy to know that my patterns are used and loved by many crafters all around the world.

I am very busy writing patterns (and knitting them to check that all is OK), and this means that I simply do not have time to read every comment
or question on each blog page.

So - I set up a couple of facebook groups with the idea that though I may not be around ....... 10,000 other knitters and crocheters will probably
be able to help !

Easter Chick Egg Cosy

Simple and easy to knit

and perfect to hide a Cadbury’s Crème Egg or hard-boiled egg for a little Easter fun!

Little Chick Egg Cosy

I used DK (8ply) yarn and smaller than usual needles to make these. This gives a denser fabric and the contents do not show through so much. Toy makers often use this technique too.

Easter Chick For a Cadbury Creme Egg

Width: 2¼“ Height: 2½“

Using DK yarn & 3.25mm needles ~

Cast on 25sts

Rib 4 rows

Stocking stitch 8 rows

Shape top ~

Row 13: (K4, K2tog) to last st, k1

Row 14: S1, purl to last st, k1

Row 15: (K3, K2tog) to last st, k1

Row 16: S1, purl to last st, k1

Row 17: (K2, K2tog) to last st, k1

Row 18: S1, purl to last st, k1

Row 19: (K1, K2tog) to last st, k1

Row 20: S1, purl to last st, k1

Row 21: (K2tog) to last st, k1 (5sts)

Cut the yarn leaving a short ‘tail’.

With a yarn needle, pull the yarn through all the remaining stitches and secure

Sew up seam

Face

Embroider on features using a length of dark coloured yarn for the eyes, and orange for the beak

Easter Chick For a Large hard-boiled Easter Egg !

Width: 2½“ Height: 3¼“

Using DK yarn & 3.5mm needles ~

Cast on 25sts

Rib 6 rows

Stocking stitch 10 rows

Shape top ~

Row 17: (K4, K2tog) to last st, k1

Row 18: S1, purl to last st, k1

Row 19: (K3, K2tog) to last st, k1

Row 20: S1, purl to last st, k1

Row 21: (K2, K2tog) to last st, k1

Row 22: S1, purl to last st, k1

Row 23: (K1, K2tog) to last st, k1

Row 24: S1, purl to last st, k1

Row 25: (K2tog) to last st, k1 5sts

Cut the yarn leaving a short ‘tail’.

With a yarn needle, pull the yarn through all the remaining stitches and secure

Sew up seam

Face

ADELE Baby Cardigan Jacket

This gorgeous baby cardigan is both modern in style and classic in appearance !

A pretty little cardigan with a lacy lower half.

There are instructions for 4 sizes ~
0 - 3 months, 6 months, 9 - 12 months and 18 months

Requires ~

DK (8ply) (light worsted) yarn
4mm needles
3 small buttons

Gauge/ tension ~
22sts = 4” (10cm)

Easy to knit.
Knitted from the bottom up, and with only 2 little sleeve seams to be joined !
