Little Willow - Box Stitch Baby Blanket

Little Willow – Box Stitch Baby Blanket

Little Willow - Box Stitch Baby Blanket

Little Willow - Box Stitch Baby Blanket

This stitch makes a lovely reversible baby blanket.
You may know it as double Moss Stitch or Double Seed Stitch

It is very easy to knit - and gives a lovely result!
The fabric can be a little stiff - so I knitted my blanket on 4.5mm needles, to allow a looser, softer feel.

Requirements ~

DK (8ply) yarn

4.5mm needles

Tension ~

20sts = 4” (10cm)

Measurements ~

Width:        16", 20”, 24” or 28”

Length:      adjustable ......... I usually make blankets a little longer than their width

For a blanket of 16”          ~        cast on 80sts

For a blanket of 20”          ~        cast on 100sts

For a blanket of 24”          ~        cast on 120sts

For a blanket of 28”          ~        cast on 140sts

Instructions ~

Cast on 80, 100, 120 or 140 stitches – see the size information above

Start with a garter stitch border - knit 8 rows

Pattern:

Row 1:          S1, k4, *k2, p2, repeat from * to last 7sts, k7

Row 2:          S1, k4, *p2, k2, repeat from * to last 3sts, k3

Row 3:          S1, k4, *p2, k2, repeat from * to last 3sts, k3

Row 4:          S1, k4, *k2, p2, repeat from * to last 7sts, k7

Repeat these 4 pattern rows until your blanket is as long as it is wide, or until you are happy with the length of your blanket

Repeat Row 1 and Row 2 once again

Finish with a garter stitch border – knit 9 rows

Cast off knitwise

Darn away ends

Baby Hug Boots ~ Version 2

One of my most popular patterns is my Baby Hug Boots. They look so cute, and they stay on well !

I have knitted and gifted dozens of them over the past 7 years.

However, one of my friends asked me to help her with knitting Hug Boots. She felt the front was too loose and didn't like the 'gaps' she got. She tried doing the k2tog tighter, but was still not happy. I like the look - but we are all different and there is room for variety!
So, I wrote a new version with an extra stitch for her, which helps pull the centre together, and she loves it! Yay! Happy friend :)
