AMITY Baby Blanket

Amity is ......... peaceful, friendly relations between people or countries.
 
A few weeks ago I wrote a pattern for a mystery 'knit along' baby hat
and over 200 people from all over the world joined in and took part.
Thank you. I called the pattern design Amity.
 
And ...... I thought ...... some of you might like a matching Baby Blanket.
 



AMITY Baby Blanket 


Size:

Width:             ~          16 - 17“
Length:            ~          18”


Tension:

22sts = 4” (10cm)

 
Requirements:

Around 90g of DK yarn

4mm needles  

 
Pattern:

Cast on 91sts

Border:

1st Row:          S1, knit to end

Repeat the last row 5 times more

 
Pattern:

7th Row:           S1, knit to end

8th Row:           S1, knit to end

9th Row:        S1, k4, * k1, p1, repeat from * to last 6sts, k6

10th Row:       S1, k4, * p1, k1, repeat from * to last 4sts, k4
 

Repeat these 4 pattern rows until the blanket is the length required (around 17”)


Complete with a border:

Next Row:       S1, knit to end

Repeat the last row 6 times more

Cast off

Darn away ends

 
If you would like to make this baby blanket smaller or bigger ~
then reduce or add in multiples of 2 stitches

'Little Surprise' Baby Jacket

Three sizes ~ Newborn, large preemie, medium preemie 


Little Surprise Baby Jacket                  Medium Premature Baby                     

Requires:

DK yarn ~ around 35g

4mm needles

2 small buttons

 
Tension:       

22sts = 4” (10cm)

 
Measurements:

Width:                    13”

Length:                   6½”

Sleeve length:         3½”

 
JACKET

Begin with the Sleeves (work 2)

Cast on 23sts

1st Row:        S1, knit to end

Repeat 1st Row 3 times more
5th Row:        S1, knit to end

6th Row         S1, purl to last st, k1

Repeat the last 2 rows until the sleeve measures 3½”

Next Row:  Cast off 2sts, knit to last 2sts, cast off 2sts              (19sts)

Leave these 19 stitches on a spare needle, or stitch holder

Length:         8½” (21.5cm)                                      

Sleeve length:  5” (13cm)


Tension:

22sts = 4" (10cm) over stocking stitch on 4mm needles

 

Jacket:


Begin with the Sleeves (work 2)

Cast on 25sts

Work 6 rows in garter stitch (knit every row)

Work 30 rows in stocking stitch, increasing one stitch at each end of 5th, 11th, 17th and 23rd rows                     (33sts)

The sleeve should now measure about 5” – you can add more rows if required

Next Row:  Cast off 3sts, work to last 3sts, cast off 3sts            (27sts)

Leave these 27 stitches on a spare needle
