2018 Review



At the end of each year I like to look back at all that I have achieved. 

It helps me realise that the positives far outweigh the negatives that life inevitably throws in our path !!

BONNIE Handwarmers with Cables


These cute little handwarmers are quick and fun to knit !!

Bonnie Handwarmers with Cables


Requires:
4mm needles
Dk yarn~ around 25g - 30g
Cable needle

Tension:
22sts = 4” (10cm)

Size:
Width – 4” (10cm) across, 8” (20cm) all around
Length – 7” (18cm)  (easy to adjust)

Top Tip ~ C4 means cable 4 stitches– slip the next 2 stitches on to a cable needle and hold at the back or the front of your work (whichever you find easiest).
Or cable front on one mitt and cable back on the other mitt if you prefer.


Mitt 1

Cast on 37sts
Garter stitch or rib 8 rows

Row 1:          S1, k3, p2, k4, p2, k4, p2, k19
Row 2:          S1, p18, k2, p4, k2, p4, k2, p3, k1
Row 3:          S1, k3, p2, C4B, p2, C4B, p2, k19
Row 4:          S1, p18, k2, p4, k2, p4, k2, p3, k1
Repeat these last 4 rows 9 more times (total of 40 rows for middle section)

Garter stitch or rib 9 rows
Cast off loosely

Mitt 2

Cast on 37sts
Garter stitch or rib 8 rows

Row 1:          S1, k18, p2, k4, p2, k4, p2, k4
Row 2:          S1, p3, k2, p4, k2, p4, k2, p18, k1
Row 3:          S1, k18, p2, C4B, p2, C4B, p2, k4
Row 4:          S1, p3, k2, p4, k2, p4, k2, p18, k1
Repeat these last 4 rows 9 more times (total of 40 rows for middle section)

Garter stitch or rib 9 rows
Cast off loosely

Sew up 2¾”  (7cm) from cast on edge for the wrist
Sew 2¼” (6cm) from cast off edge for the top of the mitt
Leave the centre 2” (5cm) open for the thumb hole

Anemone Flowers

So easy to make - and fun too ! I just couldn't stop ..........














Crochet Anemone Flowers

This pattern uses UK terminology
tc = treble crochet            dc = double crochet                    ch = chain

You need a 4mm hook and small amounts of 3 different colours of DK yarn –
I made these with black for round 1 (the centre of the flower)
Yellow or white for round 2
Red, pink, purple or blue for round 3 (the petals)


6 Petal Flower
Using DK yarn and a 4mm hook
Chain 3, join with a slip stitch into a ring
Round 1: ch2, make 11tc into ring, slip stitch to join                                 (12sts)
Round 2: ch1, make 1dc n each stich all around, slip stitch to join             (12sts)
Round 3: ch2, 4tc into same stitch, 1dc into next stitch, *5tc into next stitch, 1dc into next stitch, continue around, slip stitch to join           (there should be 6 petals)


7 Petal Flower
Using DK yarn and a 4mm hook
Chain 4, join with a slip stitch into a ring
Round 1: ch2, make 13tc into ring, slip stitch to join                                 (14sts)
Round 2:  ch1, make 1dc n each stich all around, slip stitch to join            (14sts)
Round 3: ch2, 4tc into same stitch, 1dc into next stitch, *5tc into next stitch, 1dc into next stitch, continue around, slip stitch to join           (there should be 7 petals)



You can of course make these with other colours too! 


I made these with yellow or orange for round 1 (the centre of the flower)
Yellow, orange or white for round 2
Peach, pink, lemon or white for round 3 (the petals)

An Apple a Day!




You know the old saying ........


!!


These cute little apples are easy to knit - and you can pop a real apple inside ~ 

or even on orange (or chocolate orange) if you want a bit of fun! 


Apple Cosy

DK yarn in red (or pale green)  -  and a tiny amount of brown for the stalk and dark green for a leaf
3.5mm knitting needles



Using Red ~

Cast on 43sts

1st Row:  S1, *k1, p1, repeat from * to the last 2sts, k2

2nd Row:  S1, *p1, k1, repeat from * to end

Repeat last 2 rows three times more

9th Row:  S1, knit to end

10th Row: S1 purl to last st, K1

Repeat last 2 rows 7 more

25th Row: *K2tog, repeat from * to last st, K1

26th Row:  P2tog, to end

Cut off red, join in brown to knit the stalk ~

27th Row: *K2tog, repeat from * to last st, K1                   (6sts)

28th Row:  Purl

Work 4 rows in stocking stitch  (or make an i-cord)

Cast off

Sew up side seam
Darn away ends

To make a leaf ~
Use green yarn
Cast on 1 stitch
Kfb
K1, kfb
K2, kfb
K3, kfb
K4, kfb
Knit 4 rows
K4, k2tog
K3, k2tog
K2, k2tog
S1, k2tog, psso
Fasten off
