Buttons or Bows Baby Booties






 
 

Two Colour Baby Bootees                 Size:   Premature Baby
 
DK (8ply) yarn

4mm needles
 
Length of sole:       3” (8cm)
 
Instructions: Make two booties the same
 
Using main colour, cast on 31sts
 
Knit 7 rows
 
8th Row:       Purl
 
9th Row:       K12, k2tog, k3, s1, k1, psso, k12
 
10th Row:     P11, p2tog tbl, p3, p2tog, p11
 
11th Row:     K10, k2tog, k3, s1, k1, psso, k10
 
12th Row:     P9, p2tog tbl, p3, p2tog, p9
 
13th Row:     K8, k2tog, k3, s1, k1, psso, k8
 
14th Row:     P7, p2tog tbl, p3, p2tog, p7                           (19sts)
 
15th Row:     Knit
 
16th Row:     Purl
 
Cut off main colour, join in contrast colour
 
17th Row:     Knit
 
18th Row:     Purl
 
Knit 7 rows  
 
Cast off LOOSELY  (use a stretchy cast off, or use a larger needle)
 
Sew seam along the sole.           Sew the back seam.    
 
Darn away ends.    Fold down the cuff.
 
Add a button or a bow if desired ~ please ensure these are added very securely

Knit 9 rows

10th Row:     Purl

12th Row:     P13, p2tog tbl, p4, p2tog, p13

13th Row:     K12, k2tog, k4, s1, k1, psso, k12

14th Row:     P11, p2tog tbl, p4, p2tog, p11

15th Row:     K10, k2tog, k4, s1, k1, psso, k10

16th Row:     P9, p2tog tbl, p4, p2tog, p9                           

17th Row:     K8, k2tog, k4, s1, k1, psso, k8             (22sts)

18th Row:     Purl                                           

19th Row:     Knit

20th Row:     Purl
Repeat the last 2rows once more
 
Cut off main colour, join in contrast colour
23rd Row:     Knit

24th Row:     Purl

Knit 9 rows  

Cast off LOOSELY  (use a stretchy cast off, or use a larger needle)


Darn away ends.    Fold down the cuff.
 
Add a button (or two) ..... or a bow if desired ~ please ensure these are added very securely




 

For a lace up front –
use a length of yarn, crochet chain or ribbon around 20” in length

Short Sleeves ~ Both Alike

Put the 19sts, left on a stitch holder, back on to a knitting needle. Rejoin yarn.

Knit 5 rows

Cast off

Make the second sleeve in the same way

Sew up sleeve seams. Gather together underarms

Darn away ends

Sew on buttons

OR


Long Sleeves ~ Both Alike        

Put the 19sts, left on a stitch holder, back on to a knitting needle. Rejoin yarn.

Row 1           K2tog, knit to last 2sts, k2tog                  (17sts)

Row 2           S1, purl to last st, k1

Row 3           S1, knit to end

Row 4           S1, purl to last st, k1

Repeat the last 2 rows until the sleeve measures around 2½“

Knit 5 rows

Cast off

Make the second sleeve in the same way

Sew up sleeve seams. Gather together underarms

Darn away ends

Sew on buttons

Repeat the last two rows until work measures 1¾”, ending after a wrong side row

Next Row:      S1, purl to last st, k1, decreasing one stitch at each end of this row   (31sts)

Shape Top ~

Next Row:      *K3, k2tog, repeat from * to last st, k1               (25sts)

Next Row:      S1, purl to last st, k1

Next Row:      *K2, k2tog, repeat from * to last st, k1               (19sts)

Next Row:      S1, purl to last st, k1

Cut the yarn leaving a ‘tail’.

With a yarn needle, pull the yarn through all the remaining loops and secure
