Floriana Premature Baby Hat                                     Small Premature Baby

 

Size:

7“ circumference, 3½“ high

 

Requires:

Yarn  –  any DK  (tension 22sts over 4”/10cm)    -  requires around 6g of acrylic DK
Needles  – 4mm and 5mm      

 

Instructions:

Using 4mm needles, cast on 37sts

Knit 2 rows

Change to 5mm needles

Row 3           Knit

Row 4           S1, (k2tog) across row                                                         (19sts)

Row 5           Kfb in every stitch across row, to last st, k1                           (37sts)

Row 6           S1, purl to last st, k1

Repeat the last 4 rows once more

Row 11         Knit

Row 12         S1, (k2tog) across row                                                         (19sts)

Row 13         Kfb across row, to last st, k1                                                (37sts)

Change to 4mm needles

Row 14         S1, purl to last st, k1

Row 15         Knit

Row 16         S1, purl to last st, k1

 

Shape Top ~

Next Row:      S1, *k3, k2tog, repeat from * to last st, k1                                   (30sts)

Next Row:      S1, purl to last st, k1

Cut the yarn leaving a ‘tail’.

With a yarn needle, pull the yarn through all the remaining loops and secure

Size:

9“ circumference, 4½“ high

 

Requires:

Yarn  –  any DK  (tension 22sts over 4”/10cm)  - requires around 10g of acrylic DK
Needles  – 4mm and 5mm     

 

Instructions:

Using 4mm needles, cast on 47sts

Knit 2 rows

Change to 5mm needles

Row 3           Knit

Row 4           S1, (k2tog) across row                                                         (24sts)

Row 5           Kfb in every stitch across row, to last st, k1                           (47sts)

Row 6           S1, purl to last st, k1

Repeat the last 4 rows three times more

Row 19         Knit

Row 20         S1, (k2tog) across row                                                         (24sts)

Row 21         Kfb across row, to last st, k1                                                (47sts)

Change to 4mm needles

Row 22         S1, purl to last st, k1

Row 23         Knit

Row 24         S1, purl to last st, k1

Instructions:

Using 4mm needles, cast on 57sts

Knit 2 rows

Change to 5mm needles

Row 3           Knit

Row 4           S1, (k2tog) across row                                                         (29sts)

Row 5           Kfb in every stitch across row, to last st, k1                           (57sts)

Row 6           S1, purl to last st, k1

Repeat the last 4 rows four times more

Row 23         Knit

Row 24         S1, (k2tog) across row                                                         (29sts)

Row 25         Kfb across row, to last st, k1                                                (57sts)

Change to 4mm needles

Row 26         S1, purl to last st, k1

Row 27         Knit

Row 28         S1, purl to last st, k1
