Copyright Notice: My Knitting and Crochet Patterns

A knitting pattern is essentially a set of instructions on how to make something - often a garment of clothing or a household item. Each pattern is a document – and may be made up of words, numbers, charts and photos - and is protected under UK copyright law.

Copyright gives the owner a number of exclusive rights, including the right to control how or whether a copyright work is copied – either the whole of the work, or a ‘substantial’ part of it.

Copying includes any reproduction, whether by hand, photocopying, scanning into a computer, etc.

As a general rule, anyone who wishes to publish (for example on the internet) or adapt a copyright work must first secure permission from the copyright owner.

My Knitting and Crochet Patterns are ALL copyright protected – you may not copy them without my permission.

Please respect this – and please also understand that this applies whether patterns are free or ‘paid for’

A little about me ~

I love to knit and crochet – and I donate most of what I make to charities in the UK and across the world.

I write patterns and share most of them freely - over 300 so far to help the charity community. There are many charity knitters who do wonderful work and, like me, donate to those in more need than themselves. There is always a demand for new patterns and ideas. And I am happy to share.

From time to time I make a small charge for my patterns, and this enables me to continue………..                    have you any idea of how much time and effort goes into writing patterns?

If it was easy you would all be doing it!

I am happy for you to use my patterns for your own use or for charity donations.

In addition:  You can gift or sell any finished items you make from my patterns.

However, recently I have been saddened to find that my patterns are being shared on internet groups
and someone is selling copies of my free patterns on ebay.

I am so frustrated by this. It is illegal and morally wrong too.

So hurtful - and - if this continues I will have to make a charge for all of my designs.

Please do not abuse the copyright law – if you would like to know more, you might like to read the UK Government (Intellectual Property Office)  information about this ~

  11. I will be forever grateful to you for writing these patterns especially the baby cardigan patterns. I just made my first cardigan for my new soon to be born grandchild and it was because of you and your best ever instructions that I could accomplish this. Many many thanks!! I am starting on the Charlie Cardi and can't wait to see it thru. Theresa

  12. Thank you for all your patterns, from time to time I look elsewhere but I always come back to yours; the reason being they are written so simply but the items are all so beautiful. You obviously know how yarn works so well and also what is practical for a wee one to wear. many thanks

  17. Hello Marianna Thank you for the wonderful patterns you allow us to use. However I have hacked one to make a Santa Suit for a newborn in NZ. I have put a picture on Pinterest. I hope I have not taken advantage of your copyright. Many thanks again and I am leaving a donation

  18. Hi Marianna, we have just started a WI knitting group. We are going to knit hats and cardigans for small babies. We saw your pattern and it looked ideal sizes to donate. I hope you are ok that we have printed off some copies to share. We will send you some pictures when we have completed them, although I think they are always needed. Thank you in advance. Gail

  23. Thank you so much for making your patterns available. That is so kind of you and how upsetting that some are taking advantage of that. I have made many of the Babbity hats and donated them to the NICU at our local hospital. I didn't realise that there was a matching cardi, so this will be my next project. Thanks very much again. With best wishes.

  27. Thank you for your beautiful patterns - so easy to knit. For the last 7 years I've organised and knitted for a Charity Knit sale so low income families can have warm knits for their littlies in Winter. We've just had the 2021 shop (in case you're wondering I'm southern hemisphere). Used some of your great patterns. All up over $4K was raised and split between six great charities. Please keep up developing your patterns and I hope your generosity in enabling their use is not abused.

  29. Have you thought about Watermarking your patterns?, It might be a pain in the bum for us but it'll cut down on piracy
