Length:            9½”

Requires:

Around 45g of DK (8ply) yarn             135 - 150metres

4mm needles

Tension: 

22sts = 4" (10cm)

Back & Fronts ~

Cast on 99sts

Knit 4 rows

 ** Knit 2 rows

Next Row:    S1, k4, * k1, p1, repeat from * to last 6sts, k6     

Next Row:    S1, k4, * p1, k1, repeat from * to last 4sts, k4 **

Repeat from ** to ** eight times more

Knit 2 rows

43^rd Row:        S1, knit to end of row    (If you want to make a buttonhole – S1, knit to last 4sts, k2tog, yon, k2)

44^th Row:         S1, k4, p13, k4, cast off 6sts, k3, p35, k4, cast off 6sts, k3, p13, k5

Continue on the first 22sts only (for the first front) ~

45^th Row:         S1, knit to end of row

46^th Row:         S1, k3, purl to last 5sts, k5

47^th Row:         S1, k4, s1, k1, psso, knit to end                     21sts

46^th Row:         S1, k3, purl to last 5sts, k5

Repeat last 4 rows seven times more                                    14sts

78^th Row:         S1, k3, p5, k5

79^th Row:         S1, knit to end of row

Cast off knitwise

Rejoin yarn to 43sts for the back ~

45^th Row:         Knit

46^th Row:         S1, k3, purl to last 4sts, k4

47^th Row:         S1, knit to end of row

48^th Row:         S1, k3, purl to last 4sts, k4

Repeat the last 2 rows 14 times more

77^th Row:         S1, knit to end of row

78^th Row:         S1, k3, p5, knit to last 9sts, p5, k4

79^th Row:         S1, knit to end of row

Cast off knitwise

Rejoin yarn to remaining 22sts (for the second front)  ~

45^th Row:         Knit

46^th Row:         S1, k4, purl to last 4sts, k4

47^th Row:         S1, knit to last 7sts, k2tog, k5                        21sts              

48^th Row:         S1, k4, purl to last 4sts, k4

Repeat last 4 rows seven times more                                   14sts

77^th Row:         S1, knit to end

78^th Row:         S1, k4, p5, k4

79^th Row:         S1, knit to end of row

Cast off knitwise

Sew shoulder seams. Darn away ends

Add a button if you made a buttonhole

Requirements:

 

32g DK yarn

 

4 ½mm needles

 

4mm needles

 

1 small button

 

 

Measurements:

 

Width:                                  16” (41cm)

 

Length:                                 9” (23cm)

 

 

 

GILET

 

Using 4 ½mm needles ~

Cast on 5sts and knit 1 row

Now work in pattern for the lacy edging ~

Row 1:                  S1, yo, k2tog, (yo, k1) twice

Row 2:                  S1, k6

Row 3:                  S1, yo, k2tog, k2, (yo, k1) twice

Row 4:                  Cast off 4, k4

These 4 rows form the pattern. Repeat 26 times more

Next Row:           S1, yo, k2tog, (yo, k1) twice

Next Row:           S1, k6

Next Row:           S1, yo, k2tog, k2, (yo, k1) twice

Next Row:           Cast off all stitches PURLWISE    (1stitch left on needle)

Turn work and pick up and knit (along the flat edge)  ~

(Tip: you should have 28 V-shaped peaks along the bottom edge)

*1 stitch in first hole space, 1 stitch in next hole space, 1 stitch in the next row end stitch, repeat from * all along the edge to the end                                                                           85sts

For the main part ~

Change to 4mm needles ~

1^st Row:                (Wrong side)     S1, k4, purl to last 5sts, k5

2^nd Row:               S1, knit to end

3^rd Row:               S1, k4, purl to last 5sts, k5

Repeat the last 2 rows 11 times more

26^th Row:             S1, knit to end

27^th Row               S1, k4, p10, k14, p27, k14, p10, k5             

 

28^th Row               S1, knit to end of row    

(If you want to make a buttonhole – S1, knit to last 5sts, k2tog, yo, k3)

 

29^th Row               S1, k4, p10, k4, cast off 6sts knitways,  k3, p27, k4, cast off 6sts, k3, p10, k5

 

Continue on the first 19sts only (for the first front) ~

 

30^th Row               S1, knit to end of row

 

31^st Row               S1, k3, purl to last 5sts, k5

 

32^nd Row              S1, k4, s1, k1, psso, knit to end

 

33^rd Row              S1, k3, purl to last 5sts, k5

 

Repeat last 4 rows six times more                                                            12sts                     

 

58^th Row               S1, knit to end of row

 

59^th Row               S1, k3, purl to last 5sts, k5

 

Cast off

 

Rejoin yarn to 35sts for the back  ~
