I have has so many lovely comments about my Wave of Light Baby Cardigan Jacket, Hat and Bonnet. Such a pretty pattern - and easy to knit with just a 4 row repeat.  So, to add to the set, here are the instructions for my matching Baby Blanket. Happy knitting ! 

Wave of Light Baby Blanket


Requirements:

Around 100g DK yarn for smallest size,          around (200g for 24” size) , (350g for 30” size)
4mm needles                          


Measurements:

Width:       17- 18" (43cm- 46cm)                       
Length:     18 - 19” – easy to adjust


Tension:

22sts = 4" (10cm)


For a Premature Baby Blanket of 17 – 18” ~

Cast on 98sts
1st Row             S1, knit to end
Repeat this row 7 times more
9th Row            S1, knit to end
10th Row          S1, k4, purl to last 5sts, k5                                 
11th Row:         S1, k4, *k2tog, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, k1, yo, k1, yo, k2tog, k2tog, repeat from * to last 5sts, k5
12th Row:         S1, k4, purl to last 5sts, k5                                 

Repeat last 4 rows until the blanket is the same length as it is wide

Knit 7 rows
Cast off
Darn away ends

To make this blanket bigger you will need to cast on 98 + (multiples of 11)

For a 24” newborn baby blanket cast on 131sts

For a 30” baby blanket cast on 164sts

  5. I have knitted so many of your patterns, started off with Charlie Baby Jacket with hat, my nickname being "Charlie" when I was younger. Since then have knitted so many of your patterns. Busy knitting baby trousseau
    sets for all my grandkids and now want to knit your Wave of light baby blanket to go with the jacket and hat..

  6. What a lovely pattern for a baby blanket and what beautiful colors in the yarn, I am going to try and find it here in the US.
    I also downloaded the cardigan, bonnet and hat patterns and I hate to ask but do you have a pattern for booties in this pattern, I really hope so as I want to make the whole kit and caboodle. Many thanks, Lin

  11. I've just started this pattern using a rainbow colored yarn. Making it for a friend who is having a rainbow baby! I think this is the perfect pattern.
