A friend recently asked me to make a little bonnet for her soon to be born granddaughter !
She had discussed it with her daughter - and the brief was that the bonnet should be pretty and lacy - but with NO ruffles or frills.
She asked for ribbon ties - but more of that later !!
So, last night I knitted this for her - I hope she likes it.
Wave of Light Baby Bonnet |
I persuaded my friend that ribbon ties might look pretty at first but that they wouldn't stay that way ....... and that a crochet chain was more practical and probably safer too.
I also had a little go at making this bonnet with a little chin strap ~
I personally think both options look sweet - hope you do too!

Previously I made a baby beanie hat version of this design.
It was a Friday Night Mystery Knit - and lots of knitters enjoyed making it 😄

Beautiful bonnets.I wish I had your brains as I have always knitted with patterns xx
ReplyDeleteThank you once more, dear Marianna. I have been looking for a good baby hat or bonnet with a chin strap, which is probably safer than the alternatives.
ReplyDeleteThe yarn you used, that grades so gently, is beautiful, and may not be available here in the U.S.
May I please ask you what yarn you used? You offer so much, I am reluctant to ask for more:).
Thank you, again. I enjoy your beautiful, generous patterns. Be well
Hello Vivian. The yarn was Cygnet Kiddies Kaleidoscope DK - shade Dolly Mixture . M xx
Deletethe yarn you used for this pattern is beautiful and makes the afghan really outstanding. I would like to find that yarn for a baby afghan that I will be making for my great, great niece or nephew. the colors would look good for either a boy or girl. If you know of any place I can purchase or order the yarn I would appreciate your reply. Thank you for being so talented. God bless
ReplyDeleteHow many stitches do I need for a 3 month size. Thank you
