BIBI Baby Bonnets


Here are another couple of pretty baby bonnets for you to try .......... these match my BIBI Baby Cardigans.  So pretty! 

BIBI Baby Bonnets      ~  0 - 3 months

BIBI Baby Bonnets

Bibi Baby Bonnet            0 - 3 months

Requires:
DK yarn ~ around 16 – 18g
4mm needles
A small button if desired

Cast on 58sts
1st Row         S1, knit to end
Repeat this row 6 times more
8th Row         S1, k7, * kfb, k7, repeat from * to last 2sts, k2              (64sts)
9th Row         S1, knit to end
10th Row       S1, k3, purl to last 4sts, k4                                              
11th Row       S1, k3, * k1, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, s1, k1, psso, k1, repeat from * to last 4st, k4
12th Row       S1, k3, purl to last 4sts, k4
13th Row       S1, k3, *k2tog, yo, k3, yo, s1, k1, psso, repeat from * to last 4sts, k4
14th Row       S1, k3, purl to last 4sts, k4
Repeat last 6 rows three times more     
33rd Row      S1, knit to end
34th Row      K2tog, k2, purl to last 4sts, k2, k2tog                               (62sts)

Shape Top ~ 
                             
35th Row:     * k2tog, k4, repeat from * to last 2sts, k2tog                    (51sts)
36th, 38th, 40th, 42nd Rows       S1, purl to last st, k1
37
th Row:     k2tog, k2, k2tog, * k3, k2tog, rep from * to end                (40sts)
39th Row:     * k2, k2tog, rep from * to end                                          (30sts)
41st Row:      * k1, k2tog, rep from * to end                                         (20sts)
43rd Row:     * k2tog, rep from * to last st, k1                                       (10sts)
44th Row      s1, p2tog across row to last st, k1                                      (6sts)

Cut the yarn (leaving a ‘tail’ to use for sewing up), draw the end through all stitches, pull up tightly.  Fasten off
Sew seam for 2” (5cm), leaving the bottom 3” (8cm) open
Add a crochet chain at both of lower edges to make ties

OR
Add a chin strap if you prefer

To make a chin strap ~
Pick up and knit 5 stitches at one of the lower corners
Work in garter stitch (knit every row) until the strap measures 3” (8cm)
Buttonhole Row:     K2, cast off one stitch, k1
Next Row:              K1, kfb, k2
Knit 3 rows
Cast off
Add a button to the other lower edge

Darn away ends

12th Row       S1, k3, purl to last 4sts, k4
13th Row       S1, k3, *k2tog, yo, k3, yo, s1, k1, psso, repeat from * to last 4sts, k4
14th Row       S1, k3, purl to last 4sts, k4
Repeat last 6 rows four times more       
39th Row      S1, knit to end
40th Row      K2tog, k2, purl to last 4sts, k2, k2tog                                  (69sts)

42nd Row:     K2tog, k1, purl to last 3sts, k1, k2tog                                 (67sts)
43rd Row      S1, knit to end
44th Row:     K2tog, purl to last 2sts, k2tog                                             (65sts)

45th Row:     *K4, k2tog, repeat from * to last 5sts, k5                          (55sts)
46th, 48th, 50th, 52nd Rows       S1, purl to last st, k1
47th Row:     *K3, k2tog, repeat from * end                                          (44sts)
49th Row:     *K2, k2tog, repeat from * to end                                      (33sts)
51st Row:     *K1, k2tog, repeat from * to end                                      (22sts)
53rd Row:      *K2tog, repeat from * to end                                           (11sts)


Cut the yarn (leaving a ‘tail’ to use for sewing up), draw the end through all stitches, pull up tightly.  Fasten off

  1. your patterns are so helpful as I have lost a premmi g/daughter,and the hospital dressed her in a beautiful set to put her to rest now I wish to make some of your patterns to give to our hospitals in australia at 76yrs it makes me feel good
