Melika Baby Cardigan Jacket

MELIKA Baby Cardigan Jacket               0 - 3 months Baby
Requirements:
Around 85g DK yarn              
4mm needles                         
3 small buttons
 
Tension/Gauge:
21sts = 4” (10cm)
 
Measurements:
Width:              17½" (44.5cm)            
Length:            9 ½" (24cm)   
Sleeve length:  5½" (14cm)
 
Instructions:
Begin with the Sleeves (work 2)
Using 4mm needles, cast on 27sts
Work 6 rows in garter stitch   (knit every row)
Work 36 rows in stocking stitch, increasing one stitch at each end of 5th, 11th, 17th and 23rd rows         (35sts)
The sleeve should now measure about 5½” – you can add more rows if required
Next Row:  Cast off 3sts, work to last 3sts, cast off 3sts        (29sts)
Leave these 29 stitches on a spare needle

Work the Main Part
Cast on 97sts
1st Row:           S1, knit to end
Repeat the 1st Row 7 times more
9th Row:           S1, knit to end
10th Row:         S1, k4, purl to last 5sts, k5
11th Row:         S1, k4, *yon, s1, k2tog, psso, yon, k1, rep from * to last 4sts, k4
12th Row:         S1, k4, purl to last 5sts, k5
 
Repeat the last 4 rows seven times more
 
41st Row:         S1, knit to end
42nd Row:        S1, k4, purl to last 5sts, k5
43rd Row         S1, knit 21sts, cast off 6sts, knit 40sts, cast off 6sts, k21sts

Length:            8 ½ ” (21.5cm)                        
Sleeve length:  5” (13cm)
 
Instructions:
Begin with the Sleeves (work 2)
Using 4mm needles, cast on 25sts
Work 6 rows in garter stitch   (knit every row)
Work 30 rows in stocking stitch, increasing one  stitch at each end of 5th ,  11th and 17th rows   (31sts)
The sleeve should now measure about 5” – you can add more rows if required
Next Row:  Cast off 3sts, work to last 3sts, cast off 3sts   (25sts)
Leave these 25 stitches on a spare needle

Work the Main Part

Cast on 89sts

Instructions:
Begin with the Sleeves (work 2)
Cast on 23sts
Knit 4 rows
5th Row            S1, knit to end
6th Row            S1, purl to last st, k1
Repeat the last 2 rows thirteen times more, or until the sleeve measures about 4”
Next Row:  Cast off 2sts, knit to last 2sts, cast off 2sts   (19sts)
Leave these 19 stitches on a spare needle, or stitch holder

Work the Main Part
Cast on 69sts
1st Row:          S1, knit to end
Repeat the 1st Row 3 times more
5th Row:           S1, knit to end
6th Row:           S1, k3, purl to last 4sts, k4

  1. i have started the cardigan/jacket i am at the yoke part it says cast on 97 stitches is it possable to lose stitches i only have 88 on my needle and thats with all the yarn on needle and nitting 2 together

  4. Thank you for you pattern my daughter was told she was having a girl but 33 weeks she delivery a boy, So all mine was girls . He 24 hours old iv done one of your pattern im grateful to you april.
