Summer Flower Headbands

Babies heads vary a lot in size - but this is a guide! 

0 - 3 months                65sts
6 months                     69sts
9 months                     73sts
12 months                   77sts
1 - 2 years                   81sts
3 – 4 years                  85sts
4 – 10 years                89sts


Summer Flower Headband

These are made with DK (8ply) yarn and 4mm needles.

Using first colour, cast on 65sts  (or the number suggested above for the required age)
1st Row:               K1, *(k2, p2) repeat from * to last 4sts, k2, p1, k1
2nd Row:               S1, k1, *(p2, k2) repeat from * to last 3sts, p2, k1   

Join in second colour ~
3rd Row:               Knit
4th Row:                S1, k1, *(p2, k2) repeat from * to last 3sts, p2, k1   

Using first colour ~
5th Row:                Knit
6th Row:                S1, k1, *(p2, k2) repeat from * to last 3sts, p2, k1   

Using second colour ~
7th Row:                Knit
8th Row:                S1, k1, *(p2, k2) repeat from * to last 3sts, p2, k1   

Using first colour ~
9th Row:                Knit
10th Row:             S1, k1, *(p2, k2) repeat from * to last 3sts, p2, k1   

Cast off loosely – use a bigger needle or a stretchy cast off

Add a pretty decoration – I used the pattern below for my Small Summer Flowers




Summer Flower Baby Headband in 1 colour only

These are made with DK (8ply) yarn and 4mm needles.

Cast on 65sts (or the number of stitches suggested above for the age required)
1st Row:               K1, *(k2, p2) repeat from * to last 4sts, k2, p1, k1
2nd Row:               S1, k1, *(p2, k2) repeat from * to last 3sts, p2, k1   
Repeat the last 2 rows 4 times more
Cast off loosely – use a bigger needle or a stretchy cast off

Add a pretty decoration –

I used this pattern for my Small Summer Flowers ~ 



Small Summer Knitted Flowers


Cast on 42sts

K1, cast off 5sts (2sts on right hand needle),k1, cast off 5sts (4sts on right hand needle), k1, cast off 5sts (6sts on right hand needle), k1, cast off 5sts (8sts on right hand needle), k1, cast off 5sts (10sts on right hand needle), k1, cast off 5sts (12sts on right hand needle)
Cut the yarn leaving an 6” tail
Thread the tail through each of the remaining 12sts and pull tight
Use  the tail from the cast on to join the first and last petals
Shape flower
Sew in ends

Add a button to the centre of each flower

  2. I have made many of your projects and they all turn out so nice. I make the headbands in all different colours for a four year old and her only issue with them is what one will I wear today.
