Sweet Angel Gown                            ~   simple sleeveless version

Size ~

Width  11",   Length  8½" 

 

Requires ~

20g – 22g 4ply yarn,   3.25mm needles

 

This sweet little Angel Gown can be fastened with either 3 tiny buttons ~ or a length of ribbon.       

If you are using the ribbon closers – omit the buttonholes from rows 3, 19 and 35  

 

Cast on 37sts

Rows 1 & 2       Knit
Row 3               K2, yrn, k2tog (this makes a buttonhole), knit to end
Rows 4 - 6        Knit                 
Row 7               K5, *(kfb, kfb, k1) rep from * to last 5sts, k5                                     55sts    
Row 8 - 10       Knit
Row 11             K6, *(kfb, kfb, k3) rep from * to last 4sts, k4                                     73sts
Row 12 - 14     Knit
Row 15             K7, *(kfb, kfb, k5) rep from * to last 3st, k3                                       91sts
Row 16 - 18     Knit
Row 19             K2, yrn, k2tog (this makes a buttonhole), k4, *(kfb, kfb, k7) rep from * to last 2sts, k2                                109sts

Repeat last 2 rows twice more
Row 35             K2, yrn, k2tog (this makes a buttonhole), knit to end

Repeat last 2 rows 18 times more

 

(Work should now measure around 8“ from the cast on edge – it is easy to adjust the length here)
Knit 7 rows
Cast off loosely (if you find this difficult – use a larger size needle)

Darn away ends

Add 3 tiny buttons ~ or ~ cut a length of ribbon into 4 pieces and sew 2 pieces on either side of back edges at the neck and bottom of the yoke.

To knit the ruffled sleeves ~   make each alike ~

Put the 21sts left on a stitch holder back on to your needles

Row 1   (wrong side)    Knit

Row 2               K2, * (kfb, k1) repeat from * to last st, k1      

Row 3               Knit     

Row 4               K4, * (kfb, k1) repeat from * to last 4sts, k4  

Row 5 - 7         Knit

Cast off knitwise
