MARTY Baby Blanket

Marty Baby Blanket

For a premature baby, or a doll’s cot or pram.

Size:

Width:         ~        17”
Length:        ~        18”

Tension:

22sts = 4” (10cm)

Requirements:

Around 90g of DK yarn ~

For the effect above, use 2 yarns in complementary colours or tones – one self-coloured & one short colour change (or self-patterning)

4.5mm needles

Top Tips:

·        It does not matter which yarn you start with

·        Do NOT cut off the yarn after using it – just carry it up the side of the knitting

·        Use 4.5mm needles

Pattern:

Using yarn A, cast on 95sts

1st Row:       Knit to end

2nd Row:       K1, * p1, k1, repeat from * to end

Change to yarn B (do not cut off yarn A)

3rd Row:       Knit to end

4th Row:       K1, * p1, k1, repeat from * to end

These 4 rows form the pattern

Repeat these 4 rows until your blanket is as long as it is wide, or a little longer

Finish with the same colour as you started with

Cast off in rib

Side borders (Both alike)

Using yarn A, pick up and knit stitches along the side edge

You need to pick up 3 stitches for every 4 rows you have knitted

Next Row:    K1, * p1, k1, repeat from * to end

Cast off in rib

(Or ~ if you dislike picking up stitches, you can crochet an edging at each side)

Darn away ends.

If you would like to make this baby blanket smaller or bigger ~
then reduce or add in multiples of 2 stitches

........ for a Newborn Baby Blanket of 24 - 25“

........ for a Baby Blanket of 29 - 30 “
