DK yarn in 2 complementary colours

4mm needles

Very Small Premature Baby –  7″ circumference,  3½“ high

Using contrast colour yarn, cast on 36sts

1^st Row:         S1, knit to end of row

Repeat this row once more

Using main colour yarn ~

3^rd Row:        S1, knit to end of row

Repeat this row once more

Using contrast colour yarn ~

5^th Row:        S1, knit to end of row

Repeat this row 3 times more

Using main colour yarn ~

9^th Row:        S1, knit to end of row

Repeat this row once more

Using contrast colour yarn ~

11^th Row:       S1, knit to end of row

Repeat this row three times more

Cut off contrast colour yarn and continue using main colour only ~

15^th Row:       S1, knit to end of row

16^th Row:       S1, purl to last st, k1

Repeat the last 2 rows four times more

Shape Top ~

Next Row:      *K3, k2tog, repeat from * to last st, k1               (29sts)

Next Row:      S1, purl to last st, k1

Next Row:      *K2, k2tog, repeat from * to last st, k1               (22sts)

Next Row:      S1, purl to last st, k1

Cut the yarn leaving a ‘tail’.

With a yarn needle, pull the yarn through all the remaining loops and secure
