Striped Ribster Baby Hats

These little baby hats are pretty and practical!


Make them in two colours ........  or one ........ they look great either way.

11″ circumference,  5½“ high

DK yarn
4mm needles

Using Colour A, cast on 57sts
1st Row:            K1, k2, * p2, k2, repeat from *to last 2sts, p1, k1
2nd Row:           S1, k1, p2, * k2, p2, repeat from * to last st, k1
3rd Row:            S1, k2, * p2, k2, repeat from *to last 2sts, p1, k1
4th Row:             S1, k1, p2, * k2, p2, repeat from * to last st, k1

** Change to colour B
5th Row:            Knit to end
6th Row:            S1, k1, p2, * k2, p2, repeat from * to last st, k1
7th Row:            S1, k2, * p2, k2, repeat from *to last 2sts, p1, k1
8th Row:            S1, k1, p2, * k2, p2, repeat from * to last st, k1

Change to colour A
9th Row:            Knit to end
10th Row:          S1, k1, p2, * k2, p2, repeat from * to last st, k1
11th Row:          S1, k2, * p2, k2, repeat from *to last 2sts, p1, k1
12th Row:          S1, k1, p2, * k2, p2, repeat from * to last st, k1

Repeat from ** twice more

Change to colour B

Shape Top ~

29th Row:          Knit to end
30th Row:          S1, k1, p2, * k2, p2, repeat from * to last st, k1
Next Row:         S1, k2, * p2tog, k2, repeat from * to last 2sts, p1, k1                  
Next Row:         S1, k1, * p2, k1, repeat from * to end

Change to colour A
Next Row:         K1, * k2tog, k1, repeat from * to last st, k1                    
Next Row:         S1, k1, * p1, k1, repeat from * to end
Next Row:         K2tog, across row 
Next Row:         P2tog, across row, to last st, k1 

Cut the yarn leaving a ‘tail’.
With a yarn needle, pull the yarn through all the remaining loops and secure
Sew up side seam and weave in ends.

Change to colour A

These cute little hats look great knitted in just one colour too - you can use a plain self-coloured yarn, or a variegated yarn - I bet a camouflage yarn would be great!
