These little baby hats are pretty and practical!

Make them in two colours ........  or one ........ they look great either way.

11″ circumference,  5½“ high

DK yarn

4mm needles

Using Colour A, cast on 57sts

1^st Row:            K1, k2, * p2, k2, repeat from *to last 2sts, p1, k1

2^nd Row:           S1, k1, p2, * k2, p2, repeat from * to last st, k1
3^rd Row:            S1, k2, * p2, k2, repeat from *to last 2sts, p1, k1

4^th Row:             S1, k1, p2, * k2, p2, repeat from * to last st, k1

** Change to colour B

5^th Row:            Knit to end

6^th Row:            S1, k1, p2, * k2, p2, repeat from * to last st, k1

7^th Row:            S1, k2, * p2, k2, repeat from *to last 2sts, p1, k1

8^th Row:            S1, k1, p2, * k2, p2, repeat from * to last st, k1

Change to colour A

9^th Row:            Knit to end

10^th Row:          S1, k1, p2, * k2, p2, repeat from * to last st, k1

11^th Row:          S1, k2, * p2, k2, repeat from *to last 2sts, p1, k1

12^th Row:          S1, k1, p2, * k2, p2, repeat from * to last st, k1

Repeat from ** twice more

Change to colour B

Shape Top ~

29^th Row:          Knit to end

30^th Row:          S1, k1, p2, * k2, p2, repeat from * to last st, k1

Next Row:         S1, k2, * p2tog, k2, repeat from * to last 2sts, p1, k1                  

Next Row:         S1, k1, * p2, k1, repeat from * to end

Change to colour A

Next Row:         K1, * k2tog, k1, repeat from * to last st, k1                    

Next Row:         S1, k1, * p1, k1, repeat from * to end

Next Row:         K2tog, across row 

Next Row:         P2tog, across row, to last st, k1 

Cut the yarn leaving a ‘tail’.

With a yarn needle, pull the yarn through all the remaining loops and secure

Sew up side seam and weave in ends.

These cute little hats look great knitted in just one colour too - you can use a plain self-coloured yarn, or a variegated yarn - I bet a camouflage yarn would be great!
