So many of you liked my little crochet dress ~ and asked for a knitted version.
I called this design 'Starting Out' because I thought that a simple basic pattern could be a place to start ..... and easily adapted in a variety of ways.
Starting Out - Knitted Baby Dress 3 months |
Why not add a picot edging?
Or a fancy or lacy stitch for the 'skirt' part of the dress?
Maybe a ribbon tie?
Over to you ...............
Two sizes available ~ 0 - 3 months & 6 - 9 months
You can now buy this sweet pattern in my ravelry store
You will find a crochet version at ~

It's lovely Marianna and it's a lovely name for the dress too, I thought starting out because it's for a new baby so it has a double meaning really. :) xx
ReplyDeleteThat reminds me of the first time we put our daughter in a dress. It was a big moment as we were tired of the babygrow all-in-one outfits.
ReplyDeleteHello mummybear - yes you can sell items made from my patterns - no problem. And thank you for asking me. :) I am glad that you like my designs. Very best wishes. M
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for posting this design, it's beautiful! I think you may have already answered thisfor somebody else, but I just wanted to be sure: is it ok if I use this dress pattern as a starting point to create items to sell? I have lots of ideas for patterning on skirts but have been struggling to find a reliable basic pattern for the bodice, and I don't have a baby to try things on! And I didn't want to steal part of someone else's patterns.
ReplyDeleteThank you again for posting all your patterns for free! I made the top down baby jacket for a friend and she adored it :) xxx
Hi wrenandrobin - I am very happy for you to use the pattern in this way. Hope you sell loads!!!
DeletePlease don't copy and give out the pattern instructions - or claim them as yours - but selling items you have made is no problem.
Best wishes. M
I will be making this adorable little dress for my nephew's baby who is due next month. What length (16", 24"...etc) circular needles would I need to use?
ReplyDeleteAny possibility of making this in a larger size (Toddler 3 or even 5)?
ReplyDeleteI love these! Thank you for sharing the pattern. Cascade Yarns shared the link to your Ravelry page this morning, that is how I found you.
ReplyDeleteNeed clarification on "kfb" please. Tks

DeleteThis is such a lovely pattern i would like to make it for Preemies ..do you think if i go down a couple of needle sizes it will be about 13" chest?
ReplyDeleteIf you use a 3 or 2ply yarn it will come smaller.
DeleteNice and easy pattern
ReplyDeleteIm a fan of yours. Please, please, pretty please would you please, please, please do larger size patterns? I absolutely love your designs & have made alot of them. However, there are older kids in the family that Id ADORE to knit your designs for as well. If at all possible, Im sure that your fans would find it rather exciting. I know I certainly would. Wishing........from a Granny who is a knitwit.

ReplyDeleteHi there, I love this pattern so much I just finished one for my miracle baby. Is there a way to increase the size from 9-12 and 12-18months? I'd be extremely grateful. Your work incredible and by far the nicest dress I've knitted.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks
Nikki

ReplyDeleteHas anyone found errata in the 3 month size? I come up with only 8 stitches at the end of Row 1, not 9, even though I cast on 68 and I double checked all the stitches in the right place. and it's throwning off the kfbs when I go back. TIA
