I recently found some very pretty yarn with a sparkle. It was so appealing that I couldn't resist buying several different colours!
The pink was so girly that I just had to make a bolero for a little girl.

I made this one with long sleeves ~ but I have included a short sleeve option too.

You have done it again Marianna it's gorgeous, how I wish I had a little granddaughter to try out all these lovely little patterns on I love the little dress too. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely. I wish I had knitted more for my daughter when she was small. She would have looked lovely in this.
ReplyDeleteThis is the cutest little bolero, and it looks perfect with the colorful dress :-)
ReplyDeleteWoW, do you possibly have a bigger size, my grand daughter is 4 but quite tall, i simply love it

ReplyDeleteI'd love this with directions for a smaller size if you have it, My dd is only 14 months and is quite petite so this would be way too big... Do you have instructions for smaller sizes at all??
ReplyDeleteJust darling and the size is great. By the time I find the yarn and make it, the 18 month and 21 month olds will fit into it. For those wanting bigger or smaller, consider the growing into it factor or go up or down a needle size. It's freely given, so why keep asking for more? Thank you so much for the great patterns you provide so generously.
ReplyDeleteI made this one for my granddaughter it's so easy to do and looks great on my granddaughter
ReplyDeleteThank you x
Would you mind posting a pic? i am a beginner knitter - would this be easy enough to do?

ReplyDeleteHi Marianna, I have a question for you about the pattern... I am a beginner knitter so perhaps this is a silly question... Under the "Left Front" part of the pattern you say:
ReplyDeleteWork 13 rows inc 1 st at front edge in next & every foll alt row (25sts)
Work 12 rows inc 1 st at front edge in every foll 4th row (28sts)
After the 13th row (which is a knit row) should I first do a purl row before I start the next 12 rows increasing every 4th row?
thanks
Melanie
Right after the cast on it says "Working in stocking stitch (1row knit, 1 row purl) throughout "

DeleteI love this Bolero! It is explained row by row and so easy to read. Can I make it to bigger size for my 9 year old daughter?
ReplyDeleteHi Sue, were you able to get the pattern for a 9 year old? Actually, mine's only 6.
Deletedo you have directions for doing this on a circular needle?
ReplyDeleteIt is so cute and I need the directions for a 6 year old also
Thanks
Hi - I have all the pieces knit and have picked up stitches on the lower back and knitted the bottom band or edge. However, the edge sticks off. Is the only solution for that steaming/ironing?
ReplyDeleteThanks
Please, you didn't mention the name of the yarn so I can't check for yardage and all yarn grams do not measure alike in yardage.
ReplyDeleteHi
ReplyDeleteI have a question concerning The Left Front directions.
It says to work 13 rows inc 1 St at front edge on next & every following alt row.
I thought I understood this but because my armhole came out on the wrong end I obviously did something wrong. Do you start the increase on the first knit row or the next purl row???
Thanks
Hi! I have been looking all over the internet for the same pattern. My daughter is 8 and I am a beginner so if you can help me out a little bit to make this pattern a little bigger. I would really appreciate any help you could give. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI love your gorgeous pattern, it's super cute! I would love to make it for my 6-yr old, so if there's any chance you could help with the sizing that would be awesome :-)
ReplyDeletei did it for my 5 yr old and its a bit big, but she is skinny.
Deletei added 6 more stitches at cast on edge for the back, and worked in pattern ending with 6 extra stitches at the neck band.
the fronts i cast on an extra 3 stitches each side and worked pattern to end.
the arms i did the same as i dont like wide arms.
i also used 6mm needles and arran type wool.
but i think it would fit better just with the 4mm needles, dk wool, and the stitch increases.
just make sure (as i didnt) that when knitting the front round band that you pick up more than the 86 stitches and cast off really loosely, otherwise the bad will curl inwards.
Thank you Marianna. It's a pretty bolero. I made it smaller for my 2 year old daughter. I did decease the stitches and improvised a little here and there, But it turned out perfect. I will post a picture a little later. Thank you for the pattern.:-)

ReplyDeleteHAVE TRIED MAKING THIS BOLERO, MY PROBLEM IS THAT HAVING MADE THE LEFT AND RIGHT FRONT THEY TURNED OUT EXACTLY THE SAME. SO I UNPICKED ONE OF THE FRONTS MATCHED THE OTHER TO THE BACK AND STARTED TO RE-KNITT THE OTHER WITH THE SAME RESULT. I CANNOT WORK OUT WHERE I AM GOING WRONG. HELP!!!
I love this.I don't suppose you have it larger sizes. My granddaughters are size 10/12. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI think i have made a mistake--i used 4 x 50gm balls for my bolero. It was 8ply and 95 metres per ball.
ReplyDeletedaft question i'm new to knitting so how do you
ReplyDelete1st Row: Knit to end, cast on 2sts (front edge) (14sts)
2nd Row: Inc in first st, purl to end
many thanks x
I made this and it turned out beautiful. Do you have the pattern to fit a 4 year old?
ReplyDeleteI have this pattern of the sparkle pink Bolero but I can find what I did with the sleeve part of the pattern and the sew up I was just wondering if you could help me please Thanks Jan
