Sleeve Length ~          4”

 

Requires:

DK  yarn - around 28g - 32g of acrylic DK

4mm needles

2 small buttons (or 4 for a fully fastened cardigan)

Tension / Gauge:

22sts = 4”/10cm    

 

Instructions:

Worked from the neck downwards    

 

If you want this to be fully buttoned, make buttonholes on rows 3, 19, 35 and 51 instead of rows 3 and 23.

 

Cast on 56sts

Rows 1 & 2   S1, knit to end

Row 3           S1, k1, yon, k2tog (makes a buttonhole), knit to end of row

Rows 4 & 5    S1, knit to end

Row 6           S1, k3, purl to last 4sts, k4

Row 7           S1, k5, * yon, k4, repeat from * to last 2sts, k2                          68sts

Row 8           S1, k3, purl to last 4sts, k4

Row 9           S1, knit to end

Row 10          S1, k3, purl to last 4sts, k4

Row 11          S1, knit to end

Row 12          S1, k3, purl to last 4sts, k4

Repeat the last 2 rows six times more

Knit 5 rows
Cast off loosely     

 

Sleeves ~ Both Alike

 

Put 27sts, left on a stitch holder for a sleeve, back on to a knitting needle. Rejoin yarn.

Row 1             S1, knit to end                          

Row 2             S1, purl to last st, k1

Repeat last 2 rows 11 times more

Row 25            K1, * yon, k2tog, k1, repeat from * to last 2sts, yon, k2tog

Row 26            S1, purl to last st, k1

Knit 5 rows

Cast off

 

Make the second sleeve in the same way

Sew up sleeve and underarm seams

             
Darn away ends                
Sew on buttons
