‘LITTLE SURPRISE’ BABY HAT

DK yarn (8ply)

4mm needles

Angel Baby

 

Cast on 25sts

1^st Row:       S1, knit to end

2^nd Row:       S1, knit to end

3^rd Row:       S1, *p2, yon, k1, yrn, repeat from * to last 3sts, p2, k1

4^th Row:       S1, * k2, p3, repeat from * to last 3sts, k3

5^th Row:       S1, * p2, k3, repeat from * to last 3sts, p2, k1

6^th Row:       S1, * k2, p3tog, repeat from * to last 3sts, k3

Repeat 3^rd to 6^th rows 4 times more

23^rd Row:     S1, *p2tog, k1, repeat from * to last 3sts, p2tog, k1                  

24^th Row:     P2tog, all across row, k1                                         

Cut the yarn leaving a ‘tail’.

With a yarn needle, pull the yarn through all the remaining loops and secure

Sew up side seam and weave in ends.

 (For a smaller size - repeat the pattern rows 3 times instead of 4.)

 

Small  Premature Baby –  7″ circumference,  3½“ high

 

Cast on 31sts

1^st Row:       S1, knit to end

2^nd Row:       S1, knit to end

3^rd Row:       S1, *p2, yon, k1, yrn, repeat from * to last 3sts, p2, k1

4^th Row:       S1, * k2, p3, repeat from * to last 3sts, k3

5^th Row:       S1, * p2, k3, repeat from * to last 3sts, p2, k1

6^th Row:       S1, * k2, p3tog, repeat from * to last 3sts, k3

Repeat 3^rd to 6^th rows 5 times more

27^th Row:     S1, *p2tog, k1, repeat from * to last 3sts, p2tog, k1                  

28^th Row:     P2tog, all across row, k1                                         

Cut the yarn leaving a ‘tail’.

With a yarn needle, pull the yarn through all the remaining loops and secure

Sew up side seam and weave in ends.

 

 

Medium Premature Baby –  9″ circumference,  4½“ high

 

Cast on 37sts

1^st Row:       S1, knit to end

2^nd Row:       S1, knit to end

3^rd Row:       S1, *p2, yon, k1, yrn, repeat from * to last 3sts, p2, k1

4^th Row:       S1, * k2, p3, repeat from * to last 3sts, k3

5^th Row:       S1, * p2, k3, repeat from * to last 3sts, p2, k1

6^th Row:       S1, * k2, p3tog, repeat from * to last 3sts, k3

Repeat 3^rd to 6^th rows 7 times more

35^th Row:     S1, *p2tog, k1, repeat from * to last 3sts, p2tog, k1                  

36^th Row:     S1, * p2tog all across row

37^th Row:     K2tog all across row, to last st, k1                                                        

Cut the yarn leaving a ‘tail’.

With a yarn needle, pull the yarn through all the remaining loops and secure

Large  Premature Baby –  11″ circumference,  5½“ high

 

Cast on 43sts

1^st Row:       S1, knit to end

2^nd Row:       S1, knit to end

4^th Row:       S1, * k2, p3, repeat from * to last 3sts, k3

5^th Row:       S1, * p2, k3, repeat from * to last 3sts, p2, k1

6^th Row:       S1, * k2, p3tog, repeat from * to last 3sts, k3

Repeat 3^rd to 6^th rows 9 times more

43^rd Row:     S1, *p2tog, k1, repeat from * to last 3sts, p2tog, k1                  

44^th Row:     P2tog across row, k1       

45^th Row:     K2tog across row                                

Cut the yarn leaving a ‘tail’.

With a yarn needle, pull the yarn through all the remaining loops and secure
