Knitted Baby Boy Hats

More cute hats ..... more stripes ..... for the boys this time!






The k2, p2 rib ensures a good fit

Newborn Baby Hats
With 3, 4 or 5 garter stitch ridges (these may be knitted in the main colour or in a contrast colour)
DK yarn ~ approx 16g
4mm needles

Hat with 5 garter stitch ridges





Using main colour cast on 64sts
Work 8 rows in 2 x 2 rib 

I do it this way ~ 
1st Row:  S1, * k2, p2, rep from * to last 3sts, k3
2nd Row: S1, * p2, k2, rep from * to last 3sts, p2, k1

Increase 1st at end of rib (65sts)

9th Row      Knit
10th Row    Purl

* Using contrast colour if desired
11th Row    Knit
12th Row    Knit

Using main colour
13th Row    Knit
14th Row    Purl *

Repeat from * to * four times more

Shape the top ~
1st Row    (K6, K2tog) repeat to last st, K1       57sts
2nd, 4th,6th,8th,10th Rows Purl
3rd Row    (K5, K2tog) repeat to last st, K1       49sts
5th Row    (K4, K2tog) repeat to last st, K1       41sts
7th Row    (K3, K2tog) repeat to last st, K1       33sts
9th Row    (K2, K2tog) repeat to last st, K1       25sts
11th Row   (K1, K2tog) repeat to last st, K1      17sts
12th Row   (P2tog) repeat to last st, K1             9sts
Cut yarn (leaving a long ‘tail’ to use for sewing up), draw the end through all stitches, pull up tightly.
Sew up the seam.

Hat with 4 garter stitch ridges

  10. would really love it if you did patterns for circular needles. your patterns are soooooo gosh dang cute but I am honestly no good at sewing up seams so that they are invisible.
