These cute little hats are very quick to knit!   

Perfect for fundraisers, gifts or decorations. 

I used sparkly yarn which the photos don't pick up - but any DK yarn can be used.

Sparkly Top Knot Hat              Cover for a Chocolate Orange

 

Requirements:

DK yarn (a small amount of white, and around 6g of sparkly yarn)

3.5mm knitting needles

 

Instructions:

Using White yarn ~

Cast on 41sts

1^st Row:  S1, *k1, p1, repeat from * to the last 2sts, k2

2^nd Row:  S1, *p1, k1, repeat from * to end

Repeat last 2 rows three times more

 

Cut off White, join in Sparkly yarn

9^th Row:  S1, knit to end

10^th Row: S1, purl to last st, k1

Repeat last 2 rows 6 times more

23^rd Row: *K2tog, repeat from * to last st, k1               21sts

24^th Row:  S1, purl to last st, k1

25^th Row: *K2tog, repeat from * to last st, k1               11sts

26^th Row: *P3tog, p2tog, p2tog, p2tog, p2tog              5sts

Knit 17 rows

Cast off

 

Sew up the side seam, using the corresponding colour for each section – pushing the top 17 rows through to the right side.

Tie a knot in the top 17 rows

Darn away ends

 

Fill with a Terry’s Chocolate Orange

This is an easy to knit scarf, with a simple 2 row pattern repeat. 

Ladder of Success Scarf ~ Child, Teen or Adult

 

Requires:

DK yarn, around 70g – 100g

4.5mm needles

 

Sizes:

Child ~ 40” x 4.5”  (102cm x 11.5cm)  ~ easy to adjust 

Teen  ~ 48” x 5”  (122cm x 12.5cm)  ~ easy to adjust 

Adult ~ 48” x 5.5”  (122cm x 14cm)  ~ easy to adjust 

 

Instructions:

Cast on 27sts for a child’s scarf

For a bigger scarf for a teen or adult -  cast on any odd number of stitches…… for a teen around 31sts, for an adult around 35sts, and work until your scarf is around 48” in length.

 

Row 1:   S1, k1, * k2tog tbl , yon, repeat from * to last 3sts, k1 tbl, k2

Row 2:   S1, * k1, p1, repeat from * to last 2sts, k2

 

Repeat these 2 rows until you are happy with the length of your scarf.

Cast off

Raindrops Baby Blanket

This lovely blanket is made using Long Raindrops Stitch.

It works really well as it is fully reversible. 

Please note - To give a soft drape, this blanket is knitted with DK yarn and 5mm needles (otherwise the blanket is too stiff)

Requirements:

DK yarn

5mm needles

 

Tension / Gauge:

24sts = 4” (10cm) 

 

Sizes:

Width ~

For a doll / very small preemie baby blanket of around 12”                   Cast on 73sts

For a small preemie baby blanket of 16”                                                Cast on 97sts

For a preemie baby blanket of 20”                                                         Cast on 121sts

For a newborn baby blanket of 24”                                                        Cast on 145sts

For a baby blanket of around 28”                                                           Cast on 169sts

 

Length ~ Make your blanket square, or a little longer than it’s width.

 

If you want a different size –

You can change the size of your blanket by adding or reducing in multiples of 2 stitches

(you can use any odd number of stitches)

 

Instructions:

Cast on an odd number of stitches – use the suggestions above as a guide

1^st Row:    K3, * k1, p1, rep from * to last 4sts, k4

2^nd Row:   K3, * p1, k1, rep from * to last 2sts, k2

3^rd Row:    K3, * k1, p1, rep from * to last 4sts, k4

4^th Row:    K3, * p1, k1, rep from * to last 2sts, k2

5^th Row:    K3, * p1, k1, rep from * to last 2sts, k2

Freddie Cabled Baby Blanket

Cables are timeless - and this sweet baby blanket is pretty and practical.

Requirements:

DK yarn – the amount will vary depending on the yarn you choose (less than 100g of acrylic DK for the smallest size, less than 400g for the 28” size)     

4mm and 4.5mm needles

 

Tension:

24sts = 4” (10cm)

 

How to cable:

Cable 4 = put the next 2sts onto a cable needle and hold to the front of the work, knit next 2sts, then the 2sts from the cable needle

 

Sizes:

Width ~

For a doll / very small preemie baby blanket of around 12”   Cast on 76sts

For a small preemie baby blanket of 16”                               Cast on 100sts

For a preemie baby blanket of 20”                                         Cast on 124sts

For a newborn baby blanket of 24”                                        Cast on 148sts

For a baby blanket of around 28”                                          Cast on 172sts

 

Length ~ Make your blanket square, or a little longer than it’s width.

 

If you want a different size –

11^th Row:         S1, k3, * p2, cable 4, repeat from * to last 6 sts, p2, k4

12^th Row:         S1, k5, * p4, k2, repeat from * to last 4sts, k4

Repeat the 7^th to 12^th rows until you are happy with the length of your blanket, ending after working a 12^th row

 

Change to 4mm needles ~

Finish with a garter stitch border – knit 7 rows

Cast off knit wise

Easy Little Teddy

This cute little teddy is made all in one piece - and is easy to knit.

 

Requirements:

DK yarn - around 20g

A length of darker yarn to add the features

3.5mm (or 4mm) needles    Smaller needles prevent the stuffing showing through

Polyester stuffing

 

Size:       

- with 3.5mm needles, the height is around 6½"

- with 4mm needles, the height is around 7"

 

Instructions:

Knitted in one piece in garter stitch (every row knit)

Begin with the Front Legs

Leg 1 ~

Cast on 8sts and knit 16 rows

Break off yarn, leave stitches on the needle

Leg 2 ~

Cast on 8sts and knit 16 rows

Front Body~

Knit across leg 2, then leg 1                                      (16sts)

Knit 5 more rows

Front Arms ~

Cast on 8sts at beginning of next 2 rows                   (32sts)

Knit 8 rows

Cast off 8sts at beginning of next 2 rows                   (16sts)

Head ~

Knit 38 rows

Back Arms ~

Cast on 8sts at beginning of next 2 rows                   (32sts)

Knit 8 rows

Cast off 8sts at beginning of next 2 rows                   (16sts)

Back Body~

Fold in half lengthways and sew around. (Sew it with right sides facing - leave a little gap, turn it right side out, add polyester toy stuffing, and close the little gap).

For the face ~

Ears - Create ears by using a length of the same yarn, sewing a diagonal line across the top of the head at each side

Neck - Take a double thickness of yarn and thread around neck, weaving in and out all around, and pull tightly to draw it in. Secure with a knot

Face - Add features to the face with a darker colour

 

Add a ribbon bow around the neck if desired

Requirements:

Cotton / Cotton & Acrylic Mix DK yarn

4mm needles

 

Size:

Width - 1½“ (3” all around)

Length - around 3½“ – 4”

 

Instructions:

Cast on 17sts

Work in garter stitch (every row knit) until the piece measures around 3½“ – 4”

Cast off

Join side seam

Darn away ends

 

 

 

Ice Pop Sleeve                       Crocheted Version

 

Requirements:

Cotton / Cotton & Acrylic Mix DK yarn

3.5mm hook

 

Size:

Width - 1½“ (3” all around)

Length - around 3½“ – 4”

 

Instructions:

Chain 15 stitches and join into a loop with a slip stitch

Chain 1, work 1 half-treble crochet into each chain, join with a slip stitch

Continue working in rounds, 1 half-treble in each stitch all around until the piece measures around 3½“ – 4”

Fasten off
