Freya Baby Cardigan Jacket

Freya Baby Cardigan Jacket

Knitted by Leslie Dick

This sweet little baby cardigan was knitted by Leslie Dick.

She combined two of my existing patterns, and wrote these instructions.

I love what she created - and I am sure you will too.

Freya Baby Cardigan Jacket                      3 - 6 months baby

Requirements:

80 - 85g DK yarn

4mm needles

3 small buttons

Measurements:

Width:                               20”  (51cm)

Length:                             10½“  (26.5cm)

Sleeve length:                    5½” (14cm)

JACKET

Begin with the Sleeves (work 2)

Cast on 29sts

Knit 7 rows

8th Row:        S1, purl to last st, k1

9th Row:        S1, k1, * yrn, k2, pass the yrn over the k2, k2, repeat from * to last 3sts, yrn, k2, pass the yrn over the k2, k1

10th Row:      S1, purl to last st, k1

11th Row:      S1, k1, * k2, yrn, k2, pass yrn over repeat from * to last 3sts, k3

12th Row:      S1, purl to last st, k1

The 9th – 12th rows form the pattern

Repeat the 9th – 12th rows 6 times more

37th Row:   Kfb, knit to the end                                                       (30sts)

38th Row:   S1, purl to last st, k1

The sleeve should now measure about 5½”

Next Row:  Cast off 3sts, knit to last 3sts, cast off 3sts                     (24sts)

·                  TOP TIP   ~    To cast off 3sts at the end of a row ~

You work across the row until you have 3sts on your left hand needle. Knit the first stitch, knit the second stitch, and pass the first over the second. Knit the last stitch and pass the second stitch over it. You will now have a loop - cut the yarn and pull it through the loop. Easy !

Leave these 24 stitches on a spare needle, or stitch holder

Work the Main Part
