Christmas in a Hurry ~ 15-minute Stockings

The preparations for the festive season often leave me in a rush.
So much to do ....... so little time for crafting!

However, these 4" Stockings are a joy to knit.
They are simple and easy - and take just 15minutes each.

I have made hundreds of little stockings for fundraising over the past 10 years.
I wish I had thought of this sooner!

Christmas in a Hurry  ~  15-minute Stockings

Christmas in a Hurry ~ 15-minute Christmas Stocking
Using two strands of DK yarn knitted together & 5mm or 6mm needles ~

Cast on 12sts (leaving a 6” 'tail' to use later for the hanging cord)

Knit 2 rows
Beginning with a knit row, work in stocking stitch (one row knit, one row purl) for 12 rows

Shape the heel as follows -
Row 1:  K8, turn
Row 2:  P4, turn
Row 3:  K6, turn
Row 4:  P8, turn
Row 5:  K10, turn

Beginning with a purl row, work in stocking stitch (one row knit, one row purl) for4 rows
Shape the toe as follows -

P2tog all across row              (6sts)
K2tog all across row              (3sts)
Break off the yarn, leaving a 'tail' to sew up side seam.
Thread the yarn on to a needle and thread it through the remaining stitches.
Pull tightly and fasten off.
Sew the side seam.

For the hanging cord, simply tie a knot on the 2 strands of the cast on 'tail'.
Decorate as desired – with a ribbon bow, button or other embellishment.

There are lots of ways to decorate this simple holly bunting -
use knitted holly berries, or try buttons, ribbons, bows, jingle bells, flowers ......
