HARMONY Baby Hat

 

Harmony Baby Hat


I have just finished this pretty little hat for a new arrival due any day now.


Tension / Gauge:   for all sizes

22sts = 4” (10cm)


Harmony Baby Hat            Large Preemie/Small Newborn Baby

 

Requirements:

DK yarn        (around 12 – 14g, if you are using acrylic DK)

4mm needles                             

 

Measurements:

Width:          10½” all around                            

Height:         5¼”                       

 

Instructions:

Using 4mm needles, cast on 57sts

Knit 5 rows

6th Row:       S1, purl to last st, k1        

7th Row:       S1, *yon, k2tog tbl, yon, k2tog, * repeat from * to * to end

8th Row:       S1, purl to last st, k1        

9th Row:       S1, knit across row

10th Row:     S1, purl to last st, k1      

Repeat the last 4 rows 5 times more                        

                             

Shape Top ~

1st  Row:      (K5, k2tog) repeat to last st, k1                    49sts
2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th & 10th Rows:     S1, purl to last st, k1
3rd  Row:      (K4, k2tog) repeat to last st, k1                    41sts
5th  Row:      (K3, k2tog) repeat to last st, k1                    33sts
7th  Row:      (K2, k2tog) repeat to last st, k1                    25sts
9th  Row:      (K1, k2tog) repeat to last st, k1                    17sts
11th Row:     (K2tog) repeat to last st, k1                            9sts

Cut yarn (leaving a long ‘tail’ to use for sewing up), draw the end through all stitches, pull up tightly.
Sew up the seam.

Darn away ends.

 

To make a bow ~

Cast on 15, or 17 stitches 

Knit 3 rows

K2, purl to last 2sts, k2

Knit a row

K2, purl to last 2sts, k2

Knit 3 rows

Cast off 

Darn away ends.

Wrap a length of yarn round the middle 4 or 5 times, and pull tight.

Attach to the hat. Darn away ends.

Add a small ribbon flower decoration if desired. 

 


Harmony Baby Hat              0 – 3 months Baby

 

Requirements:

DK yarn        (around 15 – 18g, if you are using acrylic DK))              

4mm needles                             

 

Measurements:

Width:          12” all around  (30.5cm)                           

Height:         5¾”                       

 

Instructions:

Using 4mm needles, cast on 65sts

Knit 7 rows

8th Row:       S1, purl to last st, k1        

9th Row:       S1, *yon, k2tog tbl, yon, k2tog, * repeat from * to * to end

10th Row:      S1, purl to last st, k1        

11th Row:      S1, knit across row

12th Row:     S1, purl to last st, k1      

Repeat the last 4 rows 5 times more                        

 

Shape Top ~

1st  Row:      (K6, K2tog) repeat to last st, k1                               57sts
2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th, 10th & 12th Rows:     S1, purl to last st, k1
3rd Row:      (K5, K2tog) repeat to last st, k1                              49sts
5th Row:      (K4, K2tog) repeat to last st, k1                              41sts
7th Row:      (K3, K2tog) repeat to last st, k1                              33sts
9th Row:      (K2, K2tog) repeat to last st, k1                              25sts
11th Row     (K1, K2tog) repeat to last st, k1                              17sts
13th Row     (K2tog) repeat to last st, k1                                      9sts

Cut yarn (leaving a long ‘tail’ to use for sewing up), draw the end through all stitches, pull up tightly.
Sew up the seam.

Requirements:

DK yarn        (around 18 – 20g, if you are using acrylic DK))    

4mm needles                             

 

Measurements:

Width:    13¼” (33.5cm) all around 

Height:   6½” (16.5cm)

 

Instructions:

Using 4mm needles, cast on 73sts

Knit 7 rows

8th Row:       S1, purl to last st, k1        

9th Row:       S1, *yon, k2tog tbl, yon, k2tog, * repeat from * to * to end

10th Row:      S1, purl to last st, k1        

11th Row:      S1, knit across row

12th Row:     S1, purl to last st, k1      

Repeat the last 4 rows 6 times more            

 

Shape Top ~

1st Row:    (K6, K2 tog) repeat to last st, k1                           64sts
2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th, 10th  & 12th Rows:     
S1, purl to last st, k1        
3rd Row:    (K5, K2tog) repeat to last st, k1                            55sts
5th Row:    (K4, K2tog) repeat to last st, k1                            46sts
7th Row:    (K3, K2tog) repeat to last st, k1                            37sts
9th Row:    (K2, K2tog) repeat to last st, k1                            28sts
11th Row:   (K1, K2tog) repeat to last st, k1                           19sts
13th Row:   (K2tog) repeat to last st, k1                                 10sts


Cut yarn (leaving a long ‘tail’ to use for sewing up), draw the end through all stitches, pull up tightly.
Sew up the seam. 

Darn away ends.

Ribbon Bow Baby Hat

 I has such fun making this sweet little baby hat !  


Ribbon Bow Baby Hat 


It was so quick to make - and it made me feel happy just looking at it. 
I am not sure if it is the colour, but it really lifted my spirits! 

And I just had to make a few more!  




Ribbon Bow Crochet Baby Hat            Newborn

 

Requirements:

DK yarn in one or two colours
4mm crochet hook

A length of satin ribbon - around 18"

 

Pattern:

This pattern is written in UK terminology      

tc = treble crochet        dc = double crochet         ch = chain

 

Worked in the round

 

Using main colour ~

Chain 3, join with a slip stitch into a ring

Round 1:   Ch2, make 9tc into ring, slip stitch to join (10sts)

Round 2:   Ch2 then 1tc in same stitch as ch2, 2tc in each stitch all around, join with slip stitch (20sts)

Round 3:   Ch2 then 1tc in same stitch as ch2,  * 1tc in next stitch, 2tc in next stitch repeat from * all around,  join with slip stitch (30sts)

Round 4:   Ch2 then 1tc in same stitch as ch2,  * 1tc in next stitch, 1tc in next stitch , 2tc in next stitch repeat from * all around,  join with slip stitch (40sts)

Round 5:   Ch2, 1tc in each stitch all around, join with slip stitch (40sts)

Rounds 6 & 7: Repeat round 5, increasing one stitch on every round

 

Using contrast colour ~

Rounds 8 - 11:    Repeat round 5, increasing one stitch on every round

(Work should now measure around 5½“ in length – you can adjust here)

 

Using main colour ~

Round 12:      Ch2, 1dc in each stitch all around, join with slip stitch.

 

Fasten off.  Weave in ends. 

Add a satin ribbon bow – thread the ribbon through the centre front at the bottom of round 7. Tie securely in a bow
