These cute little hats are very quick to knit!   

Perfect for fundraisers, gifts or decorations. 

I used sparkly yarn which the photos don't pick up - but any DK yarn can be used.

Sparkly Top Knot Hat              Cover for a Chocolate Orange

 

Requirements:

DK yarn (a small amount of white, and around 6g of sparkly yarn)

3.5mm knitting needles

 

Instructions:

Using White yarn ~

Cast on 41sts

1^st Row:  S1, *k1, p1, repeat from * to the last 2sts, k2

2^nd Row:  S1, *p1, k1, repeat from * to end

Repeat last 2 rows three times more

 

Cut off White, join in Sparkly yarn

9^th Row:  S1, knit to end

10^th Row: S1, purl to last st, k1

Repeat last 2 rows 6 times more

23^rd Row: *K2tog, repeat from * to last st, k1               21sts

24^th Row:  S1, purl to last st, k1

25^th Row: *K2tog, repeat from * to last st, k1               11sts

26^th Row: *P3tog, p2tog, p2tog, p2tog, p2tog              5sts

Knit 17 rows

Cast off

 

Sew up the side seam, using the corresponding colour for each section – pushing the top 17 rows through to the right side.

Tie a knot in the top 17 rows

Darn away ends

 

Fill with a Terry’s Chocolate Orange

DK yarn – white

A length of black to add on eyes

3.5mm crochet hook

 

Size:

Width:                  3½“ (7” all around)

Height:                 3½“

 

Pattern:

This pattern is written in UK terminology      

tr = treble crochet         dc = crochet crochet          ch = chain

 

Worked in the round

Chain 4, join with a slip stitch into a ring

Round 1:   Ch3, make 9tr into ring, slip stitch to join (10sts)

Round 2:   Ch3 then tr in same stitch as ch2, 2tc in each stitch all around, join with slip stitch  (20sts)

Round 3:   Ch3 then 1tr in same stitch as ch2,  * 1tr in next stitch, 2tr in next stitch repeat from * all around,  join with slip stitch (30sts)

Round 4:   Ch3, 1tr in each stitch all around, join with slip stitch (30sts)

Rounds 5 - 9: Repeat round 4

Chunky Christmas Stocking ~ 9ʺ

 

Size:

Width - 3½ʺ across, (7" all around)    Length - around 9ʺ

Requires:

UK Chunky yarn OR 2 strands of DK knitted together

(For my stocking - I used 2 strands of white DK for the top border – then 1 strand of white and 1 strand of King Cole Glitz DK for the main part.

Red would also look good – or any Christmas colours -  sparkly or glittery yarn

6mm needles

Instructions:

Cast on 28sts

Knit 6 rows

Beginning with a knit row, work in stocking stitch (one row knit, one row purl) for 22 rows

 

Shape heel as follows -

Row 1:  Slip 1 knitwise, k15, turn

Row 2:  Slip 1 purlwise, p3, turn

Row 3:  Slip 1 knitwise, k5, turn

Row 4:  Slip 1 purlwise, p7, turn

Row 5:  Slip 1 knitwise, k9, turn

Mobius Fidget Balls

Mobius Fidget Balls

A mobius crochet fidget ball is created by forming a single twisted loop that can be continuously pulled from the center. Great for stimulation or to help with anxiety. 

I didn’t invent these cute fidgets – but when I looked for clear simple instructions – I found that most were complicated to understand, and in US crochet terms.

So I tried a few different patterns, and decided to write down my own instructions in UK terminology.    dc = double crochet

Cotton or a cotton mix yarn is especially good for these - as they can be easily washed.

This is what I did ……….

Using DK yarn and a 3.5mm hook -

1.  Make a chain of 15 stitches, turn

2.  Miss the first chain, then work 1 dc in each chain stitch across the row

3.   Now you will join the row into a ring with a slip stitch - and you will continue by working in rounds. But this is the IMPORTANT part. Before you join – make a twist and join the last stitch you worked (which is at the top of the row) to the bottom of the first stitch you worked at the start of the row. The twist is what makes the infinity loop and it is all straightforward from this point !!  If you don’t make a twist you will end up with a tube shape.

Chain 1, and work a dc into the same stitch, then work 2dc in each stitch all around, join with a slip stitch (note - because you twisted the first row you will find that you are working into the base of your original chain). Now work in continuous rounds. Use a stitch marker to denote the first stitch if you find this helps.

5.   Chain 1, and work a dc in the same stitch, then work 2dc in each stitch all around, join with a slip stitch.

6.     Repeat the last round 3 or 4 times more, or until you are happy with the size of your fidget.

7.     Optional - For a contrast edge – work one dc stitch in each stitch all around in a contrasting  colour.

8.     Darn away ends.

Once you have made your first – the next one will be much quicker and easier. 😊  Have fun!  

For a tighter, smaller toy, use a smaller hook and thinner yarn; for a larger, "fluffier" result use a bigger hook and thicker yarn.

Easy Little Crochet Teddy

 

BUDDY - Easy Little Crochet Teddy

This little Teddy is called BUDDY - suggested by Jane Munro - a perfect choice of name. Thank you Jane for your suggestion.

Easy Little Crochet Teddy

Height – around 6 ½ ʺ

DK yarn and a 3.5mm hook

Worked flat – and in double crochet throughout

 

①       Start with the first leg – 7sts wide

            Work until 5cm have been worked

            Cut off the yarn

            Leave this leg aside for later

 

②       Work the second leg – 7sts wide

            Work until 5cm have been worked

            Do Not cut off the yarn ~

 

③       Continue across first leg then second leg to join the body

            Continue on these 14sts until a further 4.5cm have been worked

 

④       Add on a further 7sts at each side to make the arms (by making a chain at

 each side)

            Continue on these 28sts until a further 3.5cm have been worked

 

⑤       Work 21sts, turn,

work 14sts, turn (these 14sts form the head)

Continue on these 14sts until a further 5cm have been worked

 

This completes the Front of the Ted ~ do not cut the yarn - continue for the Back

 

⑥       Continue on these 14sts until a further 5cm have been worked

 

⑦       Add on a further 7sts at each side to make the arms (by making a chain at

each side)

          Continue on these 28sts until a further 3.5cm have been worked

 

⑧       Work 21sts, turn,

work 14sts, turn (these 14sts form the body)

Continue on these 14sts until a further 4.5cm have been worked

 

⑨       Work 7sts, turn, (these 7sts form the first leg)

Continue on these 7sts until a further 5cm have been worked

Cut off the yarn

 

⑩       Rejoin yarn for the second leg and work across remaining 7sts

            Work until 5cm have been worked

            Cut off the yarn

 

Join the Teddy all around (right sides together) using a length of yarn and a sewing needle, leaving a gap to use for stuffing

Turn right side out

 

Add features to the face using a length of dark coloured yarn

Create ears by sewing a line across the top of the head at each side

 

Stuff the Teddy with polyester toy filling and close up the gap
