Width – 3½” (9cm)
Length – 12 - 17” (depending on the size required)
As a rough guide ~
0 – 3 months 12”
3 - 6 months 13”
6 - 12months 14”
1 – 3 years 15”
3 - 12 years 17”
Or DK yarn for a lighter Earwarmer
DK yarn – around 20g
22sts = 4” (10cm) over stocking stitch
Width – 2¾” (7cm)
Length – 12 - 17” (easy to adjust)
Top Tip ~ C4 means cable 4 stitches– slip the next 2 stitches on to a cable needle and hold at the back or the front of your work (whichever you find easiest). Knit 2sts, then the 2sts from the cable needle.
It doesn’t matter if you cable back or front – as long as you are consistent throughout.
Cast on 16sts
Row 1: K4, p2, k4, p2, k4
Row 2: K6, p4, k6
Row 3: K4, p2, C4, p2, k4
Row 4: K6, p4, k6
Repeat these 4 rows until your work measures from 12” to 17” from the cast on edge depending on the age of the child – ending after working a Row 3.
Join the cast on and cast off edges with a short seam. Darn away ends
