Requirements:

DK yarn (around 18g – 20g of acrylic DK)

4mm crochet hook

 

Size:

Width  ~  6”

Height ~ 5½“

 

Instructions:

This pattern is written in UK terminology      

tc = treble crochet        dc = double crochet         ch = chain

 

Worked in the round

Chain 3, join with a slip stitch into a ring

Round 1:   Ch2, make 9tc into ring, slip stitch to join (10sts)

Round 2:   Ch2 then 1tc in same stitch as ch2, 2tc in each stitch all around, join with slip stitch (20sts)

Round 3:   Ch2  then 1tc in same stitch as ch2,  * 1tc in next stitch, 2tc in next stitch repeat from * all around,  join with slip stitch (30sts)

Round 4:   Ch2  then1tc in same stitch as ch2,  * 1tc in next stitch, 1tc in next stitch , 2tc in next stitch repeat from * all around,  join with slip stitch (40sts)

Round 5:   Ch2, 1tc in same stitch, miss one st, *2tc into next st, miss one st, repeat from * all around, join with slip stitch (40sts)

Round 6:   Ch2, (1tc, 1ch, 2tc) into centre of V space, *1tc in centre of next V space * (2tc, 1ch, 2tc) into centre of next V space, repeat from *all around, join with slip stitch

Rounds 7:    Slip st into centre chain space, ch2, (1tc, 1ch, 2tc) into centre of V space, *1tc in tc of previous round * (2tc, 1ch, 2tc) into centre of next V space, repeat from *all around, join with slip stitch

Rounds 8 – 12:   Repeat round 7

(Work should now measure around 5½“ in length – you can adjust here)

Round 13:      Ch1, 1dc in each stitch all around, join with slip stitch.

Fasten off.  Weave in ends.  Add a pretty crochet flower if desired.

Repeat the last 4 rows four times more

Knit 6 rows

Shape the top ~
