Crochet Baby Jacket for Spring

It will soon be Spring.
And with the idea of sunnier days ahead I made this cute little baby jacket with short sleeves.

Spring Crochet Baby Jacket

The pattern is from a leaflet I have had for a while but never used before.
Somehow I thought it looked a bit old fashioned.
But with a more modern colour, I think it looks sweet.

Old pattern - new yarn.....

It's the first time I have used this yarn - Pato DK from Cygnet Yarns.
I bought it at my local market. There was a lovely range of colours.
It's 100% acrylic - quite thick for a DK - and great value

Pretty Crochet Baby Bibs in Cotton Yarn

pretty crochet baby bib

These pretty baby bibs are made with cotton yarn (which is absorbent).

They are a cute idea for a baby shower gift.

Pretty Crochet Baby Bib in Cotton Yarn

The bib is worked in half treble crochet (htc). The ties are worked in double crochet (dc). UK Terminology

Using a 3.5mm hook and DK cotton yarn –

Make a foundation chain of 29 chain stitches

Turn, 1htc in 3rd chain from hook, 1htc in each chain to end, turn               (27sts)

Chain 2 (this counts as first htc), 12htc, 3htc in next st, 13htc, turn             (29sts)

Chain 2 (this counts as first htc), 13htc, 3htc in next st, 14htc, turn             (31sts)

Chain 2 (this counts as first htc), 14htc, 3htc in next st, 15htc, turn             (33sts)

Chain 2 (this counts as first htc), 15htc, 3htc in next st, 16htc, turn             (35sts)

Chain 2 (this counts as first htc), 18htc, 3htc in next st, 19htc, turn             (41sts)

Continue in the same manner until 18 rows have been worked – or until the bib is the length required

Add a simple shell border on the lower edge only - or on each side as well as the lower edge

For the ties  ~

Re-attach the yarn to the top corner and make a chain of 55 chain stitches

Turn, 1dc in each chain to end, (makes first tie)

Continue across the top of the bib making 1dc in each stitch across to the other top corner

Chain 55 chain stitches

Turn, 1dc in each chain to end of chain, (makes second tie)

Clara's Cotton Scarf

A couple of months ago I was making a scarf for my sister. My friend Clara admired it ~ so I decided to make one for her too as a surprise gift! It is made with cotton yarn in a lovely raspberry colour.

Clara's Cotton Scarf

It's totally reversible, and it drapes beautifully.

CLARA'S COTTON SCARF

Using 5mm needles, cast on 25sts (or any odd number of sts)

1st Row:  S1, knit to end of the row

Repeat this row 4 times more

6th Row (Eyelet Row):  s1, k1, * k2tog, yrn, repeat from * to last 3sts, k3

Work 1st Row 6 times

Pattern Repeat ~

** Work eyelet row

Work 1st Row 6 times **

Repeat these 7 rows until the scarf is the length required

I worked until I had almost used 2 x 50g balls

Finish by casting off on the last row of a pattern repeat.

Please note: as you follow the instructions you will find that the eyelet pattern is worked on alternate right & wrong sides ~ this makes the scarf reversible
