BEE Creme Egg Covers

 

Bee Creme Egg Covers                    For Cadbury’s Crème Eggs

 




Width:  2¼“            Height:  2¼“

 

 

Requires:

DK yarn in black, yellow and white

3.25mm needles

 

 

Instructions:

Using black DK yarn & 3.25mm needles ~

Cast on 23sts

Rib 2 rows


Add in yellow (do not cut off black, just carry it loosely up the side)

Using yellow ~

Knit a row

Purl a row


Using black ~

Knit a row

Purl a row

 

Repeat the last 4 rows twice more

 

Cut off black and continue in yellow only ~

 

Knit a row

Purl a row

 

Shape Top ~

Row 17:        K2tog across the row to last st, k1                    (12sts)

Row 18:        S1, purl to last st, k1

Row 19:        K2tog across the row                                         (6sts)

Cut the yarn leaving a short ‘tail’.

 

With a yarn needle, pull the yarn through all the remaining stitches and secure

Sew up seam

 

Add features – for eyes you can embroider them on, or add tiny buttons or bought googly eyes

 

Antennae -

Using Black cast on 11sts, cast off

Fold in half, and attach to the top of the head with a couple of stitches

 

Wings -

Using White cast on 13sts

Row 1:    Kfb, knit to last 2sts, kfb, k1                          15sts

Row 2:    Kfb, knit to last 2sts, kfb, k1                          17sts

Row 3:    Kfb, knit to last 2sts, kfb, k1                          19sts

Row 4:    Knit

Row 5:    K2tog, knit to last 2sts, k2tog                       17sts

Row 6:    K2tog, knit to last 2sts, k2tog                       15sts

Row 7:    K2tog, knit to last 2sts, k2tog                       13sts

Cast off

Attach to the body with a couple of stitches

 

Darn away ends

BEE Chocolate Orange Cover



Requirements:

DK YARN ~ small amount of black, yellow & white 

3.5mm or 3.25mm knitting needles

 

Body ~

Using Black ~ cast on 43sts 

1st Row:  S1, *k1, p1, repeat from * to the last 2sts, k2

2nd Row:  S1, *p1, k1, repeat from * to end

Add in Yellow ~ (don’t cut off the Black, just carry it loosely up the side)

Using Yellow ~

3rd Row: Knit      

4th Row:  S1, *p1, k1, repeat from * to end

5th Row:  S1, *k1, p1, repeat from * to the last 2sts, k2

6th Row:  S1, *p1, k1, repeat from * to end

Using Black ~

7th Row: Knit      

8th Row:  S1, *p1, k1, repeat from * to end

9th Row:  S1, *k1, p1, repeat from * to the last 2sts, k2

10th Row:  S1, *p1, k1, repeat from * to end

Repeat Rows 3 – 10 once again

Cut off Black, and continue in Yellow only ~

Work 6 rows in stocking stitch (one row knit, one row purl)

25th Row: *K2tog, repeat from * to last st, K1

26th Row:  P2tog, to end

 

Cut yarn, leaving a 'tail' to use for sewing up, draw the end through all stitches, pull up tightly

Sew up the side seam (mattress stitch works best for stripes)

 

Antennae ~

Using Black cast on 19sts, cast off

Fold in half, and attach to the top of the head with a couple of stitches

 

Add features ~

For eyes - you can embroider them on, or add buttons or bought googly eyes

For the mouth – a couple of stitches in Black

 

Wings ~

Using White cast on 23sts ~

Row 1    Kfb, knit to last 2sts, kfb, k1                          25sts

Row 2    Kfb, knit to last 2sts, kfb, k1                          27sts

Row 3    Kfb, knit to last 2sts, kfb, k1                          29sts

Knit 5 rows

Row 9     K2tog, knit to last 2sts, k2tog                       27sts

Row 10   K2tog, knit to last 2sts, k2tog                       25sts

Row 11   K2tog, knit to last 2sts, k2tog                       23sts

Cast off

 

Darn away ends

Cut a length of white yarn around 6”, wrap it around the centre of the wings to pull it in, and secure. Use the tails to attach the wings on to the body (at the back seam)

 

Pop a Terry’s Chocolate Orange inside and gift to a family member or friend !
