Preemie Baby Crochet Hats

My last project in March has been to make these cute little crochet baby beanie hats.
Individually they don't use a lot of yarn I know ~ but I have made loads as they are for charity.

Happy Easter

I thought I would share my 'upcycled' decorations for Easter Sunday's dining table ~
a small gift basket full of mini chocolate eggs for each person.

These little decorative gifts cost very little to make ~

the baskets started life as containers for garlic !!

I have been saving them for some time now ~ this family loves garlic.

As I wanted my little baskets to have a handle I took one basket apart and used the pieces to make handles for the ones I was going to use.

Then I filled each with mini chocolate eggs ......

added a ribbon bow ~ and a cute little Easter chick.

So simple.

Wishing you peace, love & happiness this Easter

Pretty Baby Blanket

Pretty Baby Blanket

I hope you like my latest project ~ a pretty scalloped edged blanket for a newborn baby.

I have been knitting for a long time but I have never seen this particular pattern before -
it is an adaptation of a Shetland Lace feather & fan stitch.
The pattern has been around for 15 years so maybe you have already made one of these !

If not - and you want to have a go - then the pattern can be found at

It is a 4 row repeat pattern - and it is actually easier than it looks.

I knitted a practise square first with 45sts so that I was sure of how to do it -

the first row seemed a little complicated, with a triple increase and decrease, but I soon understood what to do.

The instructions are for a blanket 45" x 45" but I decided to make mine with less pattern repeats
as I wanted a smaller blanket for a newborn baby.
I cast on 135 stitches instead of the 240 stitches suggested.

I completed it this afternoon, and I am a little sad that it's finished as I enjoyed making it .....

Still ~ that means I can begin something new.
Don't you just love the choosing, planning & preparation of a new project?

Life is like a Butterfly

Life is like a butterfly ……The more you chase it, the more it will elude you

But if you turn your attention to other things ….. It will come and sit softly on your shoulder

Cute Baby Sweaters

All-in-One Short Sleeved Baby Sweaters

pink & white baby sweater

I have been making these pretty baby sweaters this week.
They are a great way to use up part balls ~ I seem to have loads of those in my stash.

blue baby sweater

As they are knitted from the top down - back, front & sleeves all in one -
it really doesn't matter when you run out of one colour and change to the next.
Change colour at the beginning of any row.

This design is knitted on a circular needle - in rows across the yoke, then in rounds  -
and has instructions for long or short sleeves -
and in sizes from newborn to 8years.
I chose not to follow the pattern chart, just did my own thing!

I like the shape - very cute.

I think I will be making lots of these........

For each petal on the shamrock
This brings a wish your way -
Good health, good luck, and happiness
For today and every day.

~Author Unknown

I made this cute little shamrock for an Irish friend

Whilst I was looking for a pattern I stumbled accross an amazing vintage book of Irish Motifs published in French in1900. Amazing

I just had to get my hook out again and give it a go .....

Aqua Baby Blanket

Hot off the Hook......

Aqua Baby Blanket

I like this blanket ~ it lies flat and doesn't curl so there is no need for an edging.
Although for a girl ~ a pretty scalloped edging would look cute.

The pattern is available as a free Ravelry download

I made my blanket with a single strand of DK
...... so I started with an initial chain of 95 stitches
After the foundation row - all following rows are the same - so it doesn't require a lot of concentration.
I found I could happily watch TV at the same time so this blanket seemed to grow fairly quickly

My blanket measures 70cm x 70cm

Easy-On Baby Bootees ~ so.....cute

.....and easy to make in DK or 4ply yarn.

These make a perfect little gift for a newborn baby.
They are so quick to knit that you could wait until the little one is born -
there are instructions for three sizes.

Or make them in readiness in a neutral colour ~ then add a suitable boy/girl ribbon.
