Georgie Baby Hat          Large Preemie/Small Newborn Baby


Requirements:

DK yarn                 

4mm needles                             

 

Measurements:

Width:          11” all around                            

Height:         5”                          


Instructions:

 

Using 4mm needles, cast on 57sts

Work 6 rows in garter stitch   (knit every row)

7th Row:       S1, knit across row

8th Row:       S1, *p1, k1, repeat from * to end

Repeat the last 2 rows 10 times more

29th Row:     S1, knit across row

30th Row:     S1, purl to last st, k1                                    

 

Shape Top ~

 

1st  Row:      (K5, k2 tog) repeat to last st, k1                    49sts
2nd, 4th,6th,8th,10th Rows:  S1, purl to last st, k1
3rd  Row:      (K4, k2tog) repeat to last st, k1                    41sts
5th  Row:      (K3, k2tog) repeat to last st, k1                    33sts
7th  Row:      (K2, k2tog) repeat to last st, k1                    25sts
9th  Row:      (K1, k2tog) repeat to last st, k1                    17sts
11th Row:     (K2tog) repeat to last st, k1                            9sts

Cut yarn (leaving a long ‘tail’ to use for sewing up), draw the end through all stitches, pull up tightly.
Sew up the seam. 

Darn away ends.

32nd Row:     S1, purl to last st, k1

DK yarn        (18 – 20g, if you are using acrylic DK)

4mm needles                             

 

Measurements:

Width:    6½ “ (16.5cm),   13” (33cm) all around 

Height:   6½ “ (16.5cm)

 

 

Instructions:

 

Using 4mm needles, cast on 71sts

Work 6 rows in garter stitch   (knit every row)

7th Row:       S1, knit across row

8th Row:       S1, *p1, k1, repeat from * to end

Repeat the last 2 rows 13 times more

35th Row:     S1, knit across row

36th Row:     S1, purl to last st, k1

 

Shape the top ~

 

Row 1:         (K5, k2tog) rep to last st, k1                                    61sts

2nd, 4th,6th,8th &10thRows:  S1, purl to last st, k1
Row3:          (K4, k2tog) rep to last st, k1                                   51sts

Row 5:         (K3, k2tog) rep to last st, k1                                   41sts

Row 7:         (K2, k2tog), rep to last st, k1                                  31sts

Row 9:         (K1, k2tog, rep to last st, k1                                   21sts

Row 11:       (K2tog), rep to last st, k1                                       11sts

Row 12:       S1, (p1, p2tog) across row to last st, k1                 8sts

Cut yarn (leaving a long ‘tail’ to use for sewing up), draw the end through all stitches, pull up tightly.
Sew up the seam.

Width:    6¾   “ (17cm),   13½ ” (34cm) all around 

Height:   6¾   “ (17cm)   

         

Instructions:

 

Using 4mm needles, cast on 73sts

Work 6 rows in garter stitch   (knit every row)

7th Row:       S1, knit across row

8th Row:       S1, *p1, k1, repeat from * to end

Repeat the last 2 rows 15 times more

39th Row:     S1, knit across row

40th Row:     S1, purl to last st, k1

 

Shape the top ~


1st Row:       (K6, k2tog), repeat to last st, k1                             64sts
2nd, 4th,6th,8th , 10th  & 12th Rows:  
S1, purl to last st, k1
3rd Row:       (K5, k2tog), repeat to last st, k1                             55sts
5th Row:       (K4, k2tog), repeat to last st, k1                            46sts
7th Row:       (K3, k2tog), repeat to last st, k1                             37sts
9th Row:       (K2, k2tog), repeat to last st, k1                             28sts
11th Row:     (K1, k2tog), repeat to last st, k1                             19sts
13th Row:     (K2tog) across row to last st, k1                             10sts

14th Row:     S1, (p2tog, p1) across row to end                           7sts
