Christmas Glitz Baby Hat


Requirements

King Cole Glitz DK yarn –

in White (Shade Code 483) & Christmas Glitz (Shade Code 1698)

4mm needles

Small flower motif or ribbon bow (if desired)


Christmas Glitz Large  Premature / Small Newborn Baby Hat

11″ circumference,  5½“ high


Using White yarn, cast on 56sts

Join in Christmas Colour

Knit 2 rows in Christmas yarn

Knit 2 rows in White yarn


Repeat the last 4 rows twice more

Cut off Christmas yarn

13th Row:      S1, knit to end of row

14th Row:      S1, purl to last st, k1


Repeat the last 2 rows ten times more

Shape Top ~

Next Row:     *K3, k2tog, repeat from * to last st, k1               (45sts)

Next Row:     S1, purl to last st, k1         

Next Row:     *K2, k2tog, repeat from * to last st, k1               (34sts)

Next Row:     S1, purl to last st, k1         

Next Row:     *K1, k2tog, repeat from * to last st, k1               (23sts)

Next Row:     S1, knit to end of row

Next Row:     * K2tog, repeat from * to last st, k1                   (12sts)         

Next Row:     S1, purl to last st, k1                                       

Cut the yarn leaving a ‘tail’.

With a yarn needle, pull the yarn through all the remaining loops and secure.

Sew up side seam and weave in ends.  Add a small ribbon bow if desired.

12″ circumference,  6“ high


Using White yarn, cast on 61sts

Join in Christmas Colour


Knit 2 rows in Christmas yarn

Knit 2 rows in White yarn

Repeat the last 4 rows twice more


Cut off Christmas yarn

13th Row:      S1, knit to end of row

14th Row:      S1, purl to last st, k1


Repeat the last 2 rows twelve times more

Shape Top ~

Next Row:     *K3, k2tog, repeat from * to last st, k1               (49sts)

Next Row:     S1, purl to last st, k1         

Next Row:     *K2, k2tog, repeat from * to last st, k1               (37sts)

Next Row:     S1, purl to last st, k1         

Next Row:     *K1, k2tog, repeat from * to last st, k1               (25sts)

Next Row:     S1, knit to end of row

Next Row:     * K2tog, repeat from * to last st, k1                   (13sts)         

Next Row:     S1, purl to last st, k1 
                                      

Cut the yarn leaving a ‘tail’.

With a yarn needle, pull the yarn through all the remaining loops and secure

Sew up side seam and weave in ends.  Add a small ribbon bow if desired.

Cast off. Weave in ends.

Length:            4" (10cm)


Using DK yarn & 4mm needles ~


CUFF

Using White yarn, cast on 21sts

Join in Christmas Colour

Knit 2 rows in Christmas yarn

Knit 2 rows in White yarn

Repeat the last 4 rows twice more

Cut off Christmas yarn

HAND

1st Row (eyelets):    S1, k2, *yrn, k2tog, k1; repeat from * to the end

2nd Row:          S1, purl to last st, k1

3rd Row:           S1, knit to end

4th Row:           S1, purl to last st, k1

Repeat the last two rows 5 times more or until work measures 3 ½" from the cast on edge


Shape the top ~

Next Row:       S1, *k2tog, k1, repeat from * to last 2sts, k2tog                     14sts

Next Row:       S1, purl to last st, k1

Next Row:       *K2tog, all across row                         `                                  7sts

Cut the yarn leaving a ‘tail’.


With a yarn needle, pull the yarn through all the remaining stitches and secure


Sew up side seam and weave in ends

Make a crochet chain or use a pretty ribbon to thread through the eyelet holes, tie in a bow
