Yvette Baby Hats  -  Version 1

Requirements:

DK yarn ~ around 16g – 20g

4mm needles


 

 

Yvette Baby  Hat   -  Version 1

  

Size:               0 - 3 months

Width:             6” (15cm)   12” (30cm) all around 

Height:           5¾” (14.5cm)

 

Instructions:

Cast on 65sts

Knit 5 rows

Row 6:    S1, purl to last st, k1

Row 7:    S1, kfb, k1, * s1, k2tog, psso, kfb, k1, kfb, k1, repeat from * to last 6sts, s1, k2tog, psso, kfb, k2

Row 8:    Knit

Row 9:   Knit

Row 10:  S1, purl to last st, k1

Repeat the last 4 rows four times more

Row 27:  S1, kfb, k1, * s1, k2tog, psso, kfb, k1, kfb, k1, repeat from * to last 6sts, s1, k2tog, psso, kfb, k2

Knit 6 rows

Row 34:  S1, purl to last st, k1

Row 35:  Knit

Row 36:  S1, purl to last st, k1

 

Shape the top ~
1st  Row:  (K6, K2tog) repeat to last st, k1                             57sts
2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th, 10th Rows:    S1, purl to last st, k1
3rd  Row:  (K5, K2tog) repeat to last st, k1                             49sts
5th  Row:  (K4, K2tog) repeat to last st, k1                             41sts
7th  Row:  (K3, K2tog) repeat to last st, k1                             33sts
9th  Row:  (K2, K2tog) repeat to last st, k1                             25sts
11th Row (K1, K2tog) repeat to last st, k1                              17sts
12th Row (P2tog) repeat to last st, k1                                    9sts
Cut yarn (leaving a long ‘tail’ to use for sewing up), draw the end through all stitches, pull up tightly.
Sew up the seam.  Darn away ends

 

Version 2

Work exactly as Version 1 until you have completed Row 10, then ~

Repeat the last 4 rows (Rows 7 – 10) six times more

Row 35:  Knit

Row 36:  S1, purl to last st, k1

Shape the top as for Version 1

Row 8:    Knit

Row 9:    Knit

Row 10:  S1, purl to last st, k1

Repeat the last 4 rows three times more

Row 23:  S1, kfb, k1, * s1, k2tog, psso, kfb, k1, kfb, k1, repeat from * to last 6sts, s1, k2tog, psso, kfb, k2

Knit 6 rows

Row 30:  S1, purl to last st, k1

Row 31:  Knit

Row 32:  S1, purl to last 2sts, k2tog                                       57sts

 

Shape the top ~
