Moiselle chunky yarn sleeveless baby vest top

I have had some Wendy Moiselle yarn in my stash for a long, long time now.
It's so pretty - but for some reason - I have just not found the perfect project for it.
When I bought it I intended to make something for myself - but that never happened.
These days I mostly make and donate to charities. So I decided to use it for a baby top or two......

Any chunky yarn could be used for this design.
Tension:  16sts = 4" (10cm)

I knitted the ribs in a contrast colour

Change  to 7mm needles and work in stocking stitch (one row knit, one row purl) until the back measures 14cm ( 5 ½ “ ) finishing after a purl row.
Shape Armholes
Cast off 2sts at beginning of 2 rows (34sts).
Decrease 1 stitch at each end of next and every following alternate row until 28sts remain. **
Continue without shaping until armholes measure 13cm ( 5” ) finishing after a purl row.
Shape Shoulders
Cast off 6sts, knit to last 6sts and cast these 6sts off. Leave the remaining 16sts on a spare needle or a stitch holder.

Decrease 1 stitch at neck edge on every row until 6sts.

Rejoin yarn to remaining 10sts and knit to end.
