Melika self-patterning yarn baby vest top

Melika

Melika Baby Vest Top

There are so many very pretty self-patterning yarns available now.

It means that you can make lovely garments without having to use lacy or complicated stitches.
I love to use stitches that I haven't done before - but sometimes there is satisfaction in doing simple plain stocking stitch.

It's important to choose a nice design shape that you like ~ that way you will be happy with the results.

This cute little baby vest top is knitted all in one piece and there are no seams
- perfect for those who hate sewing up!

This pattern design is dedicated to Sandy in Texas :)

  4. If I do K2Tog every knit row (second half of the front), I'll end up with decreases, since there are no corresponding increases anywhere. Is that right? Please clarify...am confused

  5. Hi Heme - I had missed out a row. You do an increase on the first row only. Then work straight after that. I must have been tired when I wrote up the instructions!!

  6. Thanks for your response. I've knitted up my first vest. Need to do the finishing. Will post a picture on KP when I'm done

  7. on the self-patterning vest, the pattern says to cast on 41. But when you come to dividing to knit on 21 stitches each, that adds up to 42. I don't see an increase in the first 35 rows.

    2. Hello Marianna, i have problems to understand your pattern. At the beginning it says to cast on 41 stitches, in row 35 to knit 42 stitches (s1, k4, p10, k11, p10,k6). Can you explain me where to increase?

  10. Hi, I am having the same problem as a couple of the other knitters, you start with 41st, then your supposed to end up with 21st on each side of front, where do you get the 42nd stitch from, thank you

  11. Hi, the 6 month size Row 36 it says ....
    S1, K4, P10, K11,P10, K6.
When we have coasted 41 stitches how come here you are making Knit 6 in the side border.
It should be Knit 5 not Knit 6 is it a typo?
If we knit 5 then only border will be fine if not from where we got the 1stitch extra from??
I am having only 41 stitches.
Pls explain . Thanks in advance.
    YK.
