For each petal on the shamrock
This brings a wish your way -
Good health, good luck, and happiness
For today and every day.

I made this cute little shamrock for an Irish friend

Whilst I was looking for a pattern I stumbled accross an amazing vintage book of Irish Motifs published in French in1900. Amazing

I just had to get my hook out again and give it a go .....

  2. I'm not sure if I have Irish or Scottish but my maiden name starts with "Mc" and I think it can go either way. :) I made some shamrocks, too -- how lovely to come across the vintage patterns. Have fun. Best wishes, Tammy

  6. I noticed your vintage pattern from Greenock and that is my hometown. A lot of the patterns like this were sold in the Thistle Wool shop which was on the main street in town. I'm sure it closed in the mid 60's but my mum mentions it when we discuss patterns. She worked in the local mill before I was born. I prefer to work from vintage patterns and love the look they have. I think babies should be in pastels and not dark or garish colors but that's just the style I prefer. Your blog is good and I enjoyed having a browse around. The crochet mitts were lovely to work and I've made some up and added a reverse single crochet to finish the cuff edge. Keep up the great work :)
