| Crochet Poppies for Remembrance |
POPPY
Requirements:
Small amount of red double knitting yarn
Scrap of black yarn
Small amount of green yarn (the leaf is optional)
A badge pin, or safety pin (if it is to be worn)
3.5mm crochet hook
This pattern uses UK terminology ~
ch = chain
dc = double crochet
htr = half treble
crochet
tr = treble
crochet
dtr = double treble
crochet
Flower ~
Using black yarn:
Chain 3, join with a slip stitch into a ring
Round 1: ch2, work 9dc
into the ring (10sts)
Cut off black yarn
Using red yarn:
Round 2: ch2, work
1dc in same stitch, work 2dc in each stitch all around (20sts)
Round 3: ch3, (2dtr
in next st, 1dtr in next st) 3 times, 2dtr in next st, 3ch, slip stitch into
next st, 2ch and 1tr into same st, (1dtr next st, 2dtr next st) 5 times, 1tr
next st, ch2, slip stitch to join up and then fasten off,
Leaf ~ (optional)
Using green:
Chain 12
Work 1dc in the 3rd chain from the hook, 1dc in next ch,
1htr in next ch, 1htr in next ch, 1tr in next 4 chain stitches, 1dtr in next ch,
1dtr in last ch
Turn work and proceed on the other side: ch4, 1dtr in next
st, 1tr in next 4sts, 1htr in next 2sts, 1dc in next 2sts, slip stitch in the last
stitch, fasten off.
Darn away ends
Attach the leaf to the back of the poppy flower
Add a badge pin or safety pin if the poppy is to be worn
