Lacy Faux Cable Baby Hats

My recent Faux Cable Baby Hat has turned out to be very popular! 

I am so happy that you like it. 

 I decided to make another version -  a lacy pattern this time.

And i hope you enjoy this variation too.  :)  Happy Knitting. 

Here is how to work the T2 (twist 2sts)

T2 = twist 2

k2tog, then before you drop the stitch off the needle, put the point of your needle between the 2sts and knit the first stitch again, before slipping both off together

T2 = twist 2

It is easy to do - just a little complicated to explain !

Lacy Faux Cable Baby Hat  –  Medium Premature

9″ circumference, 4½” high 

Requires:

DK yarn ~ around 8g - 10g

4mm needles

 

Using 4mm needles & DK yarn, cast on 49sts

1^st Row:  S1,* k2, p2, repeat from * to last 4sts, k2, p1, k1

2^nd Row:  S1, k1, * p1, yrn, p1, k2, repeat from * to last 3sts, p1, yrn, p1, k1

3^rd Row:  S1,* s1, k1, psso, k1, p2, repeat from * to last 5sts, s1, k1, psso, k1, p1, k1

4^th Row:  S1, k1, * p2, k2, repeat from * to last 3sts, p2, k1

5^th Row:   S1, * T2, p2, repeat from * to last 4sts, T2, p1, k1

6^th Row:  S1, k1, * p2, k2, repeat from * to last 3sts, p2, k1

Repeat the last 6 rows 4 times more

 

Shape Top ~

31^st Row:   S1, * k2, p2tog, repeat from * to last 4sts, k2, p1, k1                    (38sts)

32^nd Row:   S1, k1, * p1, yrn, p1, k1, repeat from * to end                              (50sts)

33^rd Row:   S1,* s1, k2tog, psso, p1, repeat from * to last st, k1                     (26sts)

34^th Row:   S1,* k1, p1, repeat from * to last st, k1

35^th Row:   K2tog, across row                                                                          (13sts)

36^th Row:   P2tog across row to last st, p1                                                        (7sts)

 

Cut the yarn leaving a ‘tail’.

With a yarn needle, pull the yarn through all the remaining loops and secure

Sew up side seam and weave in ends.

Lacy Faux Cable Baby Hat  –  0 – 3 Months 

12″ circumference, 6” high  

 

Requires:

DK yarn ~ around 16g - 18g

4mm needles

 

Using 4mm needles & DK yarn, cast on 65sts

1^st Row:  S1,* k2, p2, repeat from * to last 4sts, k2, p1, k1

2^nd Row:  S1, k1, * p1, yrn, p1, k2, repeat from * to last 3sts, p1, yrn, p1, k1

3^rd Row:  S1,* s1, k1, psso, k1, p2, repeat from * to last 5sts, s1, k1, psso, k1, p1, k1

4^th Row:  S1, k1, * p2, k2, repeat from * to last 3sts, p2, k1

5^th Row:   S1, * T2, p2, repeat from * to last 4sts, T2, p1, k1

6^th Row:  S1, k1, * p2, k2, repeat from * to last 3sts, p2, k1

Repeat the last 6 rows 5 times more

 

Shape Top ~

37^th Row:   S1, * k2, p2tog, repeat from * to last 4sts, k2, p1, k1                        (50sts)

38^th Row:   S1, k1, * p1, yrn, p1, k1, repeat from * to end                                   (66sts)

39^th Row:   S1,* s1, k2tog, psso, p1, repeat from * to last st, k1                         (34sts)

40^th Row:   S1,* k1, p1, repeat from * to last st, k1

41^st Row:   K2tog, across row                                                                             (17sts)

42^nd Row:   P2tog across row to last st, p1                                                          (9sts)

 

Cut the yarn leaving a ‘tail’.

With a yarn needle, pull the yarn through all the remaining loops and secure

Sew up side seam and weave in ends.

Lacy Faux Cable Baby Hat  –  6 Months  

14” circumference, 6¾” high   

Requires:

DK yarn ~ around 20g - 24g

4mm needles

 

Using 4mm needles & DK yarn, cast on 73sts

1^st Row:  S1,* k2, p2, repeat from * to last 4sts, k2, p1, k1

2^nd Row:  S1, k1, * p1, yrn, p1, k2, repeat from * to last 3sts, p1, yrn, p1, k1

3^rd Row:  S1,* s1, k1, psso, k1, p2, repeat from * to last 5sts, s1, k1, psso, k1, p1, k1

4^th Row:  S1, k1, * p2, k2, repeat from * to last 3sts, p2, k1

5^th Row:   S1, * T2, p2, repeat from * to last 4sts, T2, p1, k1

6^th Row:  S1, k1, * p2, k2, repeat from * to last 3sts, p2, k1

Repeat the last 6 rows 6 times more

 

Shape Top ~

43^rd Row:  S1, * k2, p2tog, repeat from * to last 4sts, k2, p1, k1                          (56sts)

44^th Row:   S1, k1, * p1, yrn, p1, k1, repeat from * to end                                    (74sts)

45^th Row:   S1,* s1, k2tog, psso, p1, repeat from * to last st, k1                          (38sts)

46^th Row:   S1,* k1, p1, repeat from * to last st, k1

47^th Row:   K2tog, across row                                                                              (19sts)

48^th Row:   P2tog across row to last st, p1                                                          (10sts)
