6 months, 9- 12 months, 1 - 3 years, 4 - 6 years, 7 - 10 years 

These Pumpkin Hats are a 'must' for the little people in your life!  So sweet and cute. 

Pumpkin Hats      

Each hat requires:

DK yarn in orange, and a small amount of green for the stalk

4mm knitting needles

 

Tension / Gauge:

22sts = 4" (10cm) 

Sizes:

6 months, 9- 12 months, 1 - 3 years, 4 - 6 years, 7 - 10 years 

Pumpkin Hat           6 months        

Size:  12“ circumference, 6½“ high

 

Using 4mm needles & orange yarn, cast on 67sts          

1^st Row:           S1, *k1, p1, repeat from * to the last 2sts, k2

2^nd Row:          S1, *p1, k1, repeat from * to end

Repeat the last 2 rows 4 times more 

11^th Row:         S1, knit to end of row

12^th Row:         S1, *p5, k1, repeat from * to end

Repeat the last two rows until work measures 5½“

Shape Top ~

1^st Row:       S1, k1, *k2tog, k2, rep from * to last st, k1                      (51sts)

2^nd Row:       S1, p4, k1, *p3, k1, p4, k1, repeat from * to end

3^rd Row:       S1, knit to end

4^th Row:       S1, p4, k1, *p3, k1, p4, k1, repeat from * to end

 

Cut off orange yarn and add in green yarn ~

 

5^th Row:       K2, *k2tog, k1, rep from * to last st, k1                                   (35sts)

6^th Row:       S1, purl to last st, k1

7^th Row:        K2tog, repeat from * to last st, k1                                        (18sts)

8^th Row:       P2tog across row                                                              (9sts)

Work 20 rows in stocking stitch, starting with a purl row

Cast off

 

Sew up side seam

Darn away ends

Tie the green ‘stalk’ in a knot

 

 

Pumpkin Hat           9 – 12 months                        

Size:  13¼“ circumference, 6¾“ high

Using 4mm needles & orange yarn, cast on 73sts          

1^st Row:           S1, *k1, p1, repeat from * to the last 2sts, k2

2^nd Row:          S1, *p1, k1, repeat from * to end

Repeat the last 2 rows 4 times more 

11^th Row:         S1, knit to end of row

12^th Row:         S1, *p5, k1, repeat from * to end

Repeat the last two rows until work measures 5¾ “

 

Shape Top ~

1^st Row:       S1, k1, *k2tog, k2, rep from * to last 3sts, k2tog, k1          (55sts)

2^nd Row:       S1, *p3, k1, p4, k1, repeat from * to end

3^rd Row:       S1, knit to end

4^th Row:       S1, *p3, k1, p4, k1, repeat from * to end

 

Cut off orange yarn and add in green yarn ~

5^th Row:       K1, *k2tog, k1, rep from * to end                                         (37sts)

6^th Row:       S1, purl to last st, k1

7^th Row:        K2tog, repeat from * to last st, k1                                        (19sts)

8^th Row:       P2tog across row to last st, k1                                              (10sts)

9^th Row:       S1, k3, k2tog, k4                                                              (9sts)

Work 21 rows in stocking stitch, starting with a purl row

Cast off

 

Sew up side seam

Darn away ends

Size:  14¾“ circumference, 7“ high    

 

Using 4mm needles & orange yarn, cast on 81sts

1^st Row:           S1, *k1, p1, repeat from * to the last 2sts, k2

2^nd Row:          S1, *p1, k1, repeat from * to end

Repeat the last 2 rows 4 times more 

11^th Row:         S1, knit to end of row

12^th Row:         S1, *p7, k1, repeat from * to end

Repeat the last two rows until work measures 6“

8^th Row:       P2tog across row to last st, k1                                              (11sts)

9^th Row:       S1, k1, k2tog, k1, k2tog, k1, k2tog, k1                                 (8sts)

Size:  15½“ circumference, 7½“ high   

 

Using 4mm needles & orange yarn, cast on 85sts

1^st Row:           S1, *k1, p1, repeat from * to the last 2sts, k2

2^nd Row:          S1, *p1, k1, repeat from * to end

Repeat the last 2 rows 4 times more 

11^th Row:         S1, knit to end of row

12^th Row:         S1, *p11, k1, repeat from * to end

Repeat the last two rows until work measures 6½“

Using 4mm needles & DK yarn, cast on 89sts

Repeat the last 2 rows 4 times more 

11^th Row:         S1, knit to end of row

12^th Row:         S1, *p7, k1, repeat from * to end

Repeat the last two rows until work measures 7“

Size:  17½“  circumference, 8¾“ high

 

Using 4mm needles & DK yarn, cast on 97sts

1^st Row:           S1, *k1, p1, repeat from * to the last 2sts, k2

2^nd Row:          S1, *p1, k1, repeat from * to end

Repeat the last 2 rows 4 times more 

11^th Row:         S1, knit to end of row

12^th Row:         S1, *p7, k1, repeat from * to end

 

Repeat the last two rows until work measures 7¾”
