I have been really enjoying knitting these cute little preemie baby booties !

Perfect for premature babies and for baby dolls.

Length of sole: 2½”

Requires:
DK yarn
4mm needles

Instructions:     
                 
Cast on 16sts
Rows 1, 3, 5 & 7:  Knit
Row 2:                 Kfb, k5, kfb, k1, kfb, k5, kfb, k1
Row 4:                 K1, kfb, k5, kfb, k3, kfb, k5, kfb, k2
Row 6:                 K2, kfb, k5, kfb, k5, kfb, k5, kfb, k3
Row 8:                 K3, kfb, k5, kfb, k7, kfb, k5, kfb, k4                                            (32sts)
Rows 9, 10 & 11:              Knit
Row 12:               S1, purl to last st, k1
Row 13:               K10, k2tog x 6 times, k1 - turn work, slip 1 st purlwise, p7 - turn work, slip 1 st knitwise, k16
Row 14:               S1, purl to last st, k1                                                                   (26sts)
Row 15:               * K2tog, yon, rep from * to the last 2 sts, yon, k2tog                  (25sts)
Row 16:               S1, purl to last st, k1
Row 17:               S1, * p1, k1, rep from * to end
Row 18:               S1, * k1, p1, rep from * to last 2sts, k2
Repeat last 2 rows 5 times more
Cast off in rib
Sew sole and back of bootie
Thread ribbon through eyelet holes
Make a second bootie the same

Row 6:                 K2, kfb, k6, kfb, k5, kfb, k6, kfb, k3
Row 8:                 K3, kfb, k6, kfb, k7, kfb, k6, kfb, k4                                            (34sts)
Rows 9, 10 & 11:              Knit
Row 12:               S1, purl to last st, k1
Row 13:               Knit
Row 14:               S1, purl to last st, k1
Row 15:               K11, k2tog x 6 times, k1 - turn work, slip 1 st purlwise, p7 - turn work, slip 1 st knitwise, k17
Row 16:               S1, purl to last st, k1                                                                   (28sts)
Row 17:               * K2tog, yon, rep from * to the last 2sts, yon, k2tog                   (27sts)
Row 18:               S1, purl to last st, k1

Repeat last 2 rows 6 times more
Cast off in rib
Sew sole and back of bootie
Thread ribbon through eyelet holes

Make a second bootie the same

For the tie you can use a length of satin or organza ribbon ~

  2. can someone please decifer the letters on these patterns kfb is this knit from front to back on the stitch? YON is this yarn over? I knit but not as much as I crochet. Please help. These are so cute

    1. Carole, Yes kfb is increasing in the same stitch. You tube is bound to be able to provide a tutorial. YON is wrapping yarn around needle. It is the eyelet row. It is making 'gaps' to thread through ribbon or crochet chain but maintaining the number of stitches. Hope this helps. Sue
