Easy Fingerless Men's Mitts - with Thumbs

Here - as promised - is the pattern instructions for men's Fingerless Mitts with Thumbs. 
The perfect stocking filler for the menfolk in your family! 



Men's Fingerless Mitts with Thumbs

Easy Fingerless Mittens – with thumbs                 Man Size


Requires:

DK yarn   around 36g
4mm needles

Size:

Length:            8½ "  (21.5cm)

Width:              8" (20.5cm)  all around


Pattern:              

Make 2 mittens the same

CUFF

Using DK yarn and 4mm needles ~

Cast on 41sts

1st Row:           S1, * k1, p1, repeat from * to last 2sts, k2

2nd Row:          S1, * p1, k1, repeat from * to end

Repeat last 2 rows 8 times more


HAND

1st Row:           Kfb, knit to last 2sts, kfb, k1                                                   (43sts)                 

2nd Row:          and all following even (wrong side) rows – S1, purl to last st, k1   

3rd Row:           S1, knit to end

5th Row:           S1, knit to end

7th Row:           K20, kfb, kfb, k21                                                           (45sts)

9th Row:           K20, kfb, k2, kfb, k21                                                     (47sts)

11th Row:         K20, kfb, k4, kfb, k21                                                     (49sts)

13th Row:         K20, kfb, k6, kfb, k21                                                     (51sts)

15th Row:        K20, kfb, k8, kfb, k21                                                     (53sts)

17th Row:        K20, kfb, k10, kfb, k21                                                   (55sts)

19th Row:        K20, fb, k12, kfb, k21                                                     (57sts)

21st Row:         K20, kfb, k14, kfb, k21                                                   (59sts)

22nd Row:        P38, turn


THUMB

K17, turn

Working on these centre 17sts only ~

Next Row:       S1, purl to last st, k1   


THUMB RIB

1st Row:           S1, * k1, p1, repeat from * to last 2sts, k2

2nd Row:          S1, * p1, k1, repeat from * to endYou will find Ladies, 

Repeat the last 2 rows twice more

Cast off in rib


TOP

With wrong side facing, rejoin yarn to last 21sts left on the needle, p20, k1

Continue on 42sts ~

Work 16 rows in stocking stitch, decreasing one stitch at end of last row                (41sts)


TOP RIB

1st Row:           S1, * k1, p1, repeat from * to last 2sts, k2

2nd Row:          S1, * p1, k1, repeat from * to end

Repeat last 2 rows twice more

Cast off in rib

Join the thumb seam and side seam

Darn away ends

  5. Thank you for the pattern. Im making the mittens for a gentleman I know who has Arthritis in his hands. Its a really simple pattern I will make him two pairs. One pair on and one drying on the clothes line. Thank you again
