Cacey Baby Hats

Another simple but effective little baby hat pattern for you to try - 0-3 months or medium preemie                                                       Happy knitting

Cacey  Baby Hats

Requirements:

DK yarn        ~       around 9g for medium preemie,    16g for 0 – 3 months size

4mm needles

 
Gauge    22sts = 4” (10cm)


Medium Premature Baby  
 




Size:

Width:     4.5” (11.5cm)   9” (23cm) all around 

Height:    4.5” (11.5cm)

 
Using 4mm needles & DK yarn, cast on 45sts

Border ~

Knit 6 rows OR work 6 rows in rib.  Increase one stitch at end of last row     (46sts)

 
Pattern ~

1st Row:                 Knit

2nd Row:                 S1, purl to last st, k1

Knit 3 rows

6th Row:                  S1, purl to last st, k1

Knit 5 rows

12th Row:                S1, purl to last st, k1

Knit 3 rows

16th Row:                S1, purl to last st, k1

17th Row:                Knit

18th Row:                S1, purl to last st, k1
    

Shape Top ~

Next Row:  S1, k4, * k2tog, k3, repeat from * to last st, k1                (38sts)

Next Row:  S1, purl to last st, k1   

Next Row:  S1, knit to end  

Next Row:  S1, purl to last st, k1   

Next Row:  * k2tog, k2, repeat from * to last 2sts, k2tog                   (28sts)

Next Row:  S1, purl to last st, k1

Next Row:  S1, knit to end  

Next Row:  S1, purl to last st, k1                                                   

Next Row:  S1, k1, * k2tog, k1, repeat from * to last 2sts, k2tog        (19sts)

Next Row:  S1, purl to last st, k1

Next Row:  S1, *k2tog, repeat from * all across row                         (10sts)         

Next Row:  P2tog, all across row                                                    (5sts)                   

Cut the yarn leaving a ‘tail’.

With a yarn needle, pull the yarn through all the remaining loops and secure

Sew up side seam and weave in ends.

 

0 - 3 months


Size:

Width:     6” (15.25cm)   12” (30.5cm) all around 

Height:    6” (15.25cm)

Using 4mm needles & DK yarn, cast on 63sts

Border ~

Knit 8 rows OR work 8 rows in rib. Increase one stitch at each end of last row     (65sts)

Pattern ~

1st Row:                 Knit

2nd Row:                 S1, purl to last st, k1

Knit 3 rows

6th Row:                  S1, purl to last st, k1

Knit 5 rows

12th Row:                S1, purl to last st, k1

Knit 3 rows

16th Row:                S1, purl to last st, k1         

Knit 5 rows

22nd Row:                S1, purl to last st, k1

Knit 3 rows

26th Row:                S1, purl to last st, k1

Knit 1 row

28th Row:                S1, purl to last st, k1


Shape the top ~
1st  Row:  (K6, k2 tog) repeat to last st, k1                    57sts
2nd, 4th,6th,8th,10th  Rows:     S1, purl to last st, k1
3rd  Row:  (K5, k2tog) repeat to last st, k1                    49sts
5th  Row:  (K4, k2tog) repeat to last st, k1                    41sts
7th  Row:  (K3, k2tog) repeat to last st, k1                    33sts
9th  Row:  (K2, k2tog) repeat to last st, k1                    25sts
11th Row: (K1, k2tog) repeat to last st, k1                    17sts
12th Row: (P2tog) repeat to last st, k1                           9sts
Cut the yarn leaving a ‘tail’.

With a yarn needle, pull the yarn through all the remaining loops and secure

Sew up side seam and weave in ends.
