Friday Night Mystery Knit # 6

Well ~ here you have it ~ Friday Night Mystery Knit # 6 ! 


I used DK yarn and 4mm needles

(however, Aran or Worsted Weight yarn with the appropriate size needles would work out just fine too)


MYSTERY KNIT # 6                    ROMAN STITCH

DK yarn
4mm needles


Smaller size

Cast on 57sts
1st Row:           S1, * k1, p1, rep from * to last 2sts, k2
2nd Row:          S1, * p1, k1, rep from * to end
Repeat the last 2 rows 3 times more

9th Row:           Knit
10th Row:         Purl
11th Row:         Knit
12th Row:         Purl
13th Row:         (K1, p1) all across row, to last st, k1
14th Row:         (K1, p1) all across row, to last st, k1

Repeat the last 6 rows twice more

Shaping ~

Row 1:             * K5, k2tog, repeat from * last st, k1                                      49sts
Rows 2, 4, 6, 8 & 10:              Purl across row
Row 3:             * K4, k2tog, repeat from * to last s, k1                                   41sts  
Row 5:             * K3, k2tog, repeat from * to last st, k1                                 33sts
Row 7:             * K2, k2tog, repeat from * to last st, k1                                  25sts
Row 9:             * K1, k2tog, repeat from * to last st, k1                                  17sts
Row 11:           * K2tog, repeat from * to last st, k1                                        9sts
Row 12:           * P2tog, repeat from * to last st, k1                                        5sts


Cut off yarn, leaving a tail. Thread tail onto a needle and pass through remaining stitches. Pull to gather up.

Sew side seam. Weave in ends.


Bigger size

Cast on 63sts
1st Row:           S1, * k1, p1, rep from * to last 2sts, k2
2nd Row:          S1, * p1, k1, rep from * to end
Repeat the last 2 rows 3 times more

9th Row:           Knit
10th Row:         Purl
11th Row:         Knit
12th Row:         Purl
13th Row:         (K1, p1) all across row, to last st, k1
14th Row:         (K1, p1) all across row, to last st, k1

Repeat the last 6 rows three times more

Shaping ~

Rows 2, 4, 6, 8 & 10:              Purl across row
Row 3:             * K4, k2tog, repeat from * to last s, k1                                   46sts  
Row 5:             * K3, k2tog, repeat from * to last st, k1                                  37sts
Row 7:             * K2, k2tog, repeat from * to last st, k1                                 28sts
Row 9:             * K1, k2tog, repeat from * to last st, k1                                 19sts
Row 11:           * K2tog, repeat from * to last st, k1                                        10sts

Row 12:              P2tog across the row                                                           5sts

Cut off yarn, leaving a tail. Thread tail onto a needle and pass through remaining stitches. Pull to gather up.
