Little Ribby Baby Hats


Another great Newborn and Preemie baby hat pattern - great for boys and girls!
 
Quick to knit and so practical too.

 
Ribby Baby Hats

 

 
Ribby ~ Baby Hats            
4mm needles
DK yarn
 

Newborn Baby  12″ circumference,  5
½ ʺ high 

 
 
Cast on 64sts

1st Row:                  S1, * k1, p2, repeat from * to last 3sts, k1, p1, k1
 
2nd Row:                 S1, k1, * p1, k2, repeat from * to last 2sts, p1, k1

Repeat the last 2 rows 18 times more

If you want a turn-up brim make your hat 10 rows longer at this point

 
Shape Top ~

Next Row:              S1, * k1, p2tog, repeat from * to last 3sts, k1, p1, k1                    (44sts)

Next Row:              S1, k1, * p1, k1, repeat from * to end

Next Row:              K2tog  all across row                                          (22sts)

Next Row:              S1, purl to last st, k1           

Next Row:              K2tog  all across row                                          (11sts)
                                                           

Cut the yarn leaving a ‘tail’.

With a yarn needle, pull the yarn through all the remaining loops and secure

Sew up side seam and weave in ends.

Large  Premature Baby  11″ circumference,  5¼ ʺ  high

 
Cast on 55sts

2nd Row:                 S1, k1, * p1, k2, repeat from * to last 2sts, p1, k1

Repeat the last 2 rows 15 times more

If you want a turn-up brim make your hat 10 rows longer at this point

Repeat the last 2 rows twelve times more

Santa Hat Bottle Topper


Just a quick idea for a little festive fun ........

Marianna’s Little Santa Hat Bottle Topper

 
Red DK yarn

White DK eyelash yarn (I used King Cole Moments)

4mm needles

 

Using white, cast on 16sts

Knit 2 rows

Change to red ~

3rd Row:    S1, knit to end

4th Row:    S1, purl to last st, k1

 
Repeat the last 2 rows 4 times more

13th Row:    *K2tog, all across row

14th Row:     S1, purl to last st, k1

Repeat last 2 rows once more

17th Row:     K2tog,  k2tog

18th Row:     P2tog, fasten off

Sew up the seam.  Darn away ends.


 
Pompom

Using white yarn cast on 3 stitches

Row 1:      Knit in the front and back of every stitch              (6sts)

Knit 5 rows

Row 7:      K2tog three times                                                (3sts)

Cast off

 
Fasten off, leaving a little tail

 
Thread the tail onto a sewing needle and weave in and out all around the outside and pull tight to gather up

Sew pompom onto the hat

Add the hat to a bottle for a little festive fun!

Knit Poncho for a Baby Doll

 
 

 





Poncho for a Baby Doll

Using DK yarn and 4mm needles ~

Cast on 65sts

Knit 2 rows

Row 3:                   S1, * yrn, k2tog, repeat from * to end

Row 4 and every alternate (wrong side) row:       S1, purl to last st, k1

Row 5:                   Kfb,  k30, kfb, kfb, k30, kfb, k1

Row 7:                   Kfb,  k32, kfb, kfb, k32, kfb, k1

Row 9:                   Kfb,  k34, kfb, kfb, k34, kfb, k1


Continue working and increasing in this manner until work measures 4½” from the cast on edge  (use stitch markers if this helps you)

 

It is easy to adjust the length here (work more rows if required)

Knit 9 rows, continuing to increase as before on every right side row

Cast off knitwise loosely (if you find this difficult – use a larger needle)

Sew up the back seam

Darn away ends

 

Make a crochet chain drawstring (or use a ribbon if you prefer)

Thread it through the eyelet holes at the neckline, and tie in a bow
