Plain and Simple Baby Socks

 

Baby or Baby Doll Socks



I used DK yarn and 4mm needles, though 4ply yarn and 3.25mm needles would also work well and result in smaller sizes. 

Measurements:

Sole –                  2”

Height –              2¼”

 

Instructions:

Cast on 17sts

Row 1:                 K1, purl to last st, k1

Row 2:                 Kfb, k6, kfb, kfb, k6, kfb, k1                                                     21sts

Row 3:                 S1, p7, pfb, p2, pfb, p8, k1                                                      23sts

Row 4:                 S1, kfb, k6, kfb, k4, kfb, k6, kfb, k2                                       27sts

Row 5:                 S1, p8, pfb, p6, pfb, p9, k1                                                      29sts

Row 6:                 S1, k16, s1, k1, psso, turn

Row 7:                 S1 purlwise, p5, p2tog, turn

Row 8:                 S1, k5, s1, k1, psso, turn

Row 9:                 S1 purlwise, p5, p2tog, turn

Row 10:              S1, k5, s1, k1, psso, turn

Row 11:              S1 purlwise, p5, p2tog, turn

Row 12:              S1, k5, s1, k1, psso, turn

Row 13:              S1, purlwise, p5, p2tog, turn

Row 14:              S1, knit to end                                                                             21sts

Row 15:              S1, purl to last st, k1

Repeat the last 2 rows 3 times more    (it is easy to adjust the length here if desired)

Row 22:              S1, * k1, p1, repeat from * to last st, k1

Row 23:              S1, * p1, k1, rep from * to end

Repeat the last 2 rows once more.

 

Cast off loosely in rib ( if you find this difficult, use a larger size needle to cast off)

Join the sole and back seam

Row 7:                 S1 purlwise, p5, p2tog, turn

Doll's Short-Sleeved Top

Little Cutie – Short-Sleeved Top for a Doll                           

 

Requirements:

Each top requires DK yarn and 4mm needles (10g - 15g)

(Using finer yarn and thinner needles will give an even smaller size)

A small button


Tension/Gauge:

22sts = 4" (10cm)


Tiny Sleeveless Top

Size:  Fits my 11” doll

Measurements:

Width:  7“ around chest

Length: 4”

 

Instructions:

Cast on 41sts

Knit 6 rows OR for a patterned lower edge ~ Knit 2 rows, rib 2 rows, knit 2 rows

7th Row:  S1, knit to end

8th Row:  S1, k2, purl to last 3sts, k3

Repeat last 2 rows three times more

15th Row:  S1, k1, yrn, k2tog (makes a buttonhole), knit to end

Divide for back and fronts...

16th Row:         S1, k2, purl 27 - put the remaining 11sts onto a stitch holder

Cast on 3sts at beg of next row (for armhole border), knit these 3sts and continue to knit across row until last 11sts - put these 11sts onto a stitch holder

Cast on 3sts at beg of next row (for armhole border), knit these 3sts, then purl 19, k3  (this is the back)

19th Row:         S1, knit across row                                 25sts

20th Row:         S1, k2, purl to last 3sts, k3

Repeat the last 2 rows 4 times more

29th Row:         S1, knit across row

30th  Row:         S1, k2, p2, k2tog, k11, k2tog tbl, p2, k3

Cast off loosely

 

Work left front ~

Put the 11sts for the left front back onto needles, join yarn, cast on 3sts (for armhole border)

Knit these 3sts and continue to knit across row               14sts               

Next Row:         S1, k2, purl to last 3sts, k3

Next Row:         S1, knit to last 5sts, k2tog, k3

Next Row:         S1, k2, purl to last 3sts, k3

Repeat the last 2 rows five times more                          8sts

Cast off shoulder stitches loosely

 

Work right front ~

Put the 11sts for the right front back onto needles, join yarn, cast on 3sts (for armhole border)

Knit these 3sts and continue across row - purl to last 3sts, k3                  14sts

Next Row:         S1, k2, s1, k1, psso, knit to end

Next Row:         S1, k2, purl to last 3sts, k3

Repeat the last 2 rows five times more                           8sts

Cast off shoulder stitches loosely

Join shoulder and under arm seams

Darn away ends

Sew on a small button

 

 

Extra-Small (Preemie) Sleeveless Top         

 


Size:  Fits my 12” doll

Measurements:

Width:  9“ around chest

Length: 5”

 

Instructions:

Cast on 53sts

Knit 6 rows OR ~ for a patterned lower edge - Knit 2 rows, rib 2 rows, knit 2 rows

7th Row:  S1, knit to end

8th Row:  S1, k2, purl to last 3sts, k3

Repeat last 2 rows five times more

19th Row:  S1, k1, yrn, k2tog (makes a buttonhole), knit to end

20th Row:         S1, k2, purl 36 - put the remaining 14sts onto a stitch holder

Cast on 3sts at beg of next row (for armhole border), knit these 3sts and continue to knit across row until last 14sts - put these 14sts onto a stitch holder

35th Row:         S1, knit across row

36th Row:        S1, k2, p2, k2tog, k17, k2tog tbl, p2, k3

Cast off loosely

 

Work left front ~

Put the 14sts for the left front back onto needles, join yarn, cast on 3sts (for armhole border)

Knit these 3sts and continue to knit across row               17sts
