Galway Bay Ribbed Handwarmer Mittens

I made these cosy Handwarmer Mittens to go with my Galway Bay Ribbed Hat.

Quick to knit ....... and great when texting !

Galway Bay Ribbed Handwarmers and Hat

Galway Bay Ribbed Handwarmer Mittens

Requires:

Aran weight yarn

5mm needles

Tension:

4sts = 1” over the ribbing pattern, when stretched as worn

Size:

Width:   7” all around, when stretched as worn

Length:  7”

Instructions:     Make 2 mittens the same

Cast on 32sts, leaving a tail to use for joining

1st Row:        S1, k2, * p2, k2, repeat from *to last st, k1

2nd Row:        S1, p2, * k2, p2, repeat from * to last st, k1

Repeat the last 2 rows until work measures 7”

It is easy to adjust the length here ~ by increasing or decreasing the number of rows.

Cast off in rib, leaving a tail to use for joining

To Complete:

Fold the handwarmer in half lengthways. Using the cast on tail, join the sides up to 2.5 inches. This is the bottom of the mitten. Using the cast off tail, join the sides for 2 inches for the top of the mitten. This should leave a 2.5 inch gap for the thumb.

Darn away ends

Whitby Hat and Mittens

I am so happy that my recent Whitby Scarf has been so well received!  And, of course I wanted to add a matching Hat and Mittens.

Before I even got the stitches cast on to my needles - a member of my facebook group had already knitted some up!  Great minds :)

Thank you Jenny Kriel for sharing your Fingerless Handwarmers - they look great!
